Therefore, it is said (in the scriptures) that (faith) can generate ungenerated qualities, and enable generated qualities to be maintained and continuously increased. It is also said in the Sutra of Ten Dharmas: "Whoever leads to liberation, faith is the most supreme of vehicles. Therefore, a person with wisdom should rely on following faith. For those who do not have faith, white and pure dharmas will not arise, just as a seed burned by fire cannot produce a green sprout." Thus, from the perspective of following and opposing, it is explained that faith is the foundation of all virtues. Generally speaking, there is much faith in the Three Jewels, the law of karma, and the Four Noble Truths, but here it refers to faith in the Guru. So, how should one view the Guru? In the Vajrapani Abhisheka Tantra, it says: "Lord of Secrets, how should a disciple view the teacher?" (Answer:) "Just as one views the Buddha, the Bhagavan." There are similar statements in the Mahayana Sutras and Vinaya. The meaning of these words is: If one knows it is the Buddha, one will not have thoughts of fault, but will have thoughts of contemplating virtues. Similarly, for the Guru, one should especially abandon all thoughts of fault and cultivate thoughts of contemplating virtues. Furthermore, in that tantra it says: "The teacher's virtues should be upheld, faults should never be grasped. Upholding virtues attains accomplishment, grasping faults does not achieve." One should act in this way. Although the Guru has more virtues than faults, if one examines it from the perspective of its slight faults, it will become an obstacle to one's own attainment of accomplishment. Even if there are more faults than virtues, if one does not examine it from the perspective of faults, but cultivates faith from the perspective of virtues, it will become a cause for attaining accomplishment. Therefore, if it is one's own Guru, no matter how big or small the faults are, one should think about the faults of observing from the perspective of faults, generate a strong mind of renunciation, and prevent it. If thoughts of fault arise due to carelessness or increased afflictions, one should also strive to confess and protect. After becoming accustomed to this, even if one sees some faults, because the mind is inclined towards virtues, it will not become an obstacle to faith. For example, the venerable one holds the view of Madhyamaka, while Serlingpa (Suvarnadvipi) holds the view of Cittamatra's true existence. Although there are superior and inferior aspects in terms of view, the Mahayana

In general, the stages of the path are attained through reliance on the mind of enlightenment. Just as the Gold Island masters consider them to be unparalleled. Secondly, in the Ten Dharmas Sutra it says: I seek the self that has long wandered in samsara, awaken the self that has long been obscured by ignorance and fallen asleep, rescue the self that is drowning in the ocean of existence, show the good path to those who have entered the wrong path, liberate the self that is bound in the prison of existence, like a doctor who heals a long-term illness, generate the thought of a rain cloud that pacifies the burning of my desires and so on. Furthermore, in the Avatamsaka Sutra it also says: This is my virtuous friend, the Dharma speaker, he fully demonstrates all the qualities of the Dharma, fully demonstrates the conduct of the Bodhisattva. I thought with one mind: He is, so I came here. They nurture me like a mother, like a mother they feed me with the milk of merit, they fully practice the limbs of enlightenment, these virtuous friends can dispel all harm, like a doctor who liberates from old age and death, like Indra who pours down the rain of nectar, like the new moon growing with white Dharma, like the bright sun illuminating the direction of peace, treating enemies and friends like mountains, like the ocean possessing an unmoved mind, like completely guarding and listening.
