As an antidote to those who are dominated by discursive thoughts, the five objects of focus are, in order, ugliness, love, dependent origination, the distinction of elements, and the meditation on breathing in and out. The objects of focus for the wise are also five: the objects of focus for the wise are to be skilled in the aggregates, elements, sense bases, the twelve links of dependent origination, and what is and is not possible. The objects of focus for taming afflictions are two: the peace and roughness of the higher and lower grounds, and the sixteen aspects of the four truths, such as impermanence. Among these, the objects of focus for training and purification are special objects of focus because they are easy to reverse attachment and so on for those who are particularly trained in attachment and so on, and because it is easy to attain samadhi by relying on them. The objects of focus for the wise are good objects of focus for calm abiding because they prevent the self of the person from being anything other than those dharmas, and thus are in accordance with the arising of higher vision that realizes selflessness. The objects of focus for taming afflictions are important because they are the antidote to all afflictions in general. The pervasive object of focus is not separate from the previous objects of focus. Therefore, since it is necessary to accomplish samadhi by relying on the calm abiding object of focus that has special meaning, it is clear that accomplishing samadhi by making pebbles and pieces of wood etc. the object of focus is not understanding the aspect of the object of focus of samadhi. Secondly, if one is a person ranging from being dominated by desire to being dominated by discursive thought, then, as stated in what was asked by Nāgārjuna, one must take each of the objects of focus from ugliness to breathing in and out as a definite object of focus. If one is a person who practices equally and has little affliction, then it is sufficient to hold the mind to whichever of the previously mentioned objects of focus one likes, and it is not necessary to be certain. Among these, the reason why the five, such as attachment, are dominant is that one has become accustomed to the five, such as attachment, in a previous life, so even with a small object of the five, such as attachment, the five, such as attachment, arise for a long time. Practicing equally means that although one has not become accustomed to attachment and so on in a previous life, one has not regarded them as faults, so one does not generate strong attachment and so on for a long time towards their objects, but it is not that they do not arise. Having little affliction means that in another life one has not become accustomed to attachment and so on, and has regarded them as faults and so on, so towards large and numerous objects of attachment and so on,

It is born in the central country, and will not be born in border areas and small countries. Moreover, if the five afflictions such as greed are heavy, the time will be long; if practiced equally, it will not be too long; if the afflictions are small, the abiding mind will be quickly accomplished. Second, on what object should we rely here to practice calm abiding? Generally speaking, each person's object is as previously stated, but in particular, for those with heavy conceptual thoughts, practicing qi-gong is very important. In addition, according to the Samadhi and Samadhi King where the Buddha is now present in the world, from the middle and lower stages of meditation, it is said that practicing Samadhi with the body of the Tathagata as the object. The learned monk Bodhi Bhadra also said that practicing Samadhi with the Buddha image as the object, which is quoted in the commentary of the Lamp for the Path. Therefore, focusing the mind on the body of the Buddha is mindfulness of the Buddha, which can generate immeasurable merit; if the Buddha image is clear and stable, then for the field of merit for accumulating resources such as prostration, offering, and prayer, and the field of purification for confession and restraint, etc., it makes a big difference to practice as the object; there are merits such as not losing mindfulness of the Buddha at the time of death; if practicing the mantra path, then there is a big difference for the deity yoga, etc., there are many necessities. From the Samadhiraja Sutra: With a body like the color of gold, the protector of the world is everywhere adorned, whoever's mind abides on that object, that Bodhisattva is called Samadhi. Like this, abide on the object. Among them, the manifestation of newly created by conceptual thought and naturally existing, the latter makes a big difference for generating faith, and it is in accordance with the occasion of the common vehicle, so the latter is better. When looking for the basic object of the abiding mind in advance, look for a beautiful Buddha image such as a painting or statue, watch it repeatedly, remember its characteristics, and get used to appearing in the mind. Or think about the meaning taught by the guru, let it appear in the mind, and look for the object. The object should also not appear in the form of a painting or statue, etc., but should learn to appear as the real Buddha image. Some people put the Buddha image in front of them and look at it with their eyes.
