It is the path of bliss leading to liberation in the heavens. Do not deviate from these ten paths of virtuous actions. By abiding in this, with the intention to benefit beings, the special quality of this intention will have its fruition. Restraining speech, body, and mind properly, the Victorious Ones say that this is the concise discipline. Since discipline is the basis for encompassing everything, therefore, strive to purify these thoroughly. Thus it is said. In short, based on that, repeatedly training in the precepts of discipline that one has vowed to uphold, such as the mind of vows, is the practice of discipline. To possess the six perfections, it is to abide in one's own discipline and to establish others in it, which is generosity. The rest are as before. The third (patience) has three aspects: the nature of patience, its divisions, and how to cultivate it in one's being. First, the nature of patience is: when harm occurs or suffering arises, not to be disheartened, but to keep the mind calm, and to have great faith in the Dharma. Its opposing factors are hatred, laziness, disbelief, and unwillingness. For the perfection of patience, it is merely the completion of the habituation of the mind to prevent one's own anger, etc., and it does not depend on the absence of unruly beings. Second, the divisions of patience are: not taking to heart the harm done by others, accepting the suffering that arises in one's own being, and having patience with firm conviction in the Dharma. Third, because it is necessary to contemplate the benefits of patience and the faults of impatience, first is: to think that in the future, enemies will be few, one will not be separated from friends, happiness and peace of mind will increase, one will die without regret, and after the body is destroyed, one will be reborn in the heavens, etc. In the Collected Perfections, it is said: "For those who have the mind of abandoning the welfare of others, the supreme aspect of discipline is patience." "All the good perfections of the world, are fully protected by patience from the faults of anger." "This is the supreme ornament of those with power, for those who hold the ascetic discipline, it is the pinnacle of strength." "Like a stream of water to the fire of the wilderness of harmful thoughts, patience eliminates the nine harms to oneself and others." "On the armor of patience of the supreme beings, the arrows of words of unruly beings are shattered, therefore, those praises become beautiful flowers, the garland of fame will become pleasing." Thus it is said. And, possessing beautiful qualities

। । The place of accomplishing forms is also tolerable. As it is said, one should meditate until one gains a strong and firm conviction in the benefits. Secondly, the Bodhicaryāvatāra says: "A single moment of anger destroys all the merit accumulated over a thousand eons, such as offerings to the Sugatas and acts of generosity." This seems to be arranged as it was composed by the noble hero. The Mañjuśrīvikrīḍitasūtra says that the merit accumulated over a hundred eons is destroyed. Regarding the object, some say that it must be a Bodhisattva, while others consider it to be any object in general. The former is in accordance with the Bodhicaryāvatāra, which says: "Why does anger towards the sons of the Buddhas destroy the merit of generosity and discipline accumulated over a hundred eons in an instant?" The basis for the arising of anger is that even if a Bodhisattva becomes angry, the root of virtue is destroyed. What need is there to mention that if someone who is not a Bodhisattva becomes angry with a Bodhisattva? Whether the object is definitely a Bodhisattva or not, and whether the fault seen in the reason for anger is true or false, are the same with regard to the destruction of virtue, as stated in the commentary on the Bodhicaryāvatāra. In general, it is not necessary to be angry with a Bodhisattva in order to destroy the root of virtue. The Śikṣāsamuccaya quotes the Vaibhāṣika school, saying: "When a monk prostrates with devotion and all his limbs to a stupa of hair and nails, he will enjoy a thousand times the sovereignty of a universal monarch for as many atoms of dust as he presses down on the earth until he reaches the golden ground." It is said. Furthermore, if one damages or injures that root of virtue, which is equal to Brahmā, it will be exhausted. Therefore, if one does not become angry even with rubble, what need is there to mention the body with consciousness? It is said. The meaning of destroying the root of virtue is that one destroys the ability of the previous virtues to quickly produce results, and delays the time for producing results, first producing the results of anger and so on. It is not that one's own results will not be produced when one encounters conditions now, because worldly paths cannot abandon the seeds that should be abandoned, therefore afflictions cannot abandon seeds. This is what some scholars say. That reason is uncertain,
