Even though the purification of non-virtues through the application of the four opponent powers doesn't eliminate the seed, it prevents the fruition of those non-virtues even when conditions are met. Similarly, when one attains the peak of the application path or forbearance, even if the seeds of non-virtues that lead to wrong views and bad migrations are not eliminated, they cannot give rise to wrong views or bad migrations even when conditions are met. As it is said, "Among actions in samsara, whichever is heavier," whichever of the virtuous or non-virtuous actions ripens first, for a time, the other actions do not have the opportunity to ripen. However, this alone does not mean that the virtuous or non-virtuous action has been destroyed, nor is it said to be so. Merely delaying the ripening is not the same as destroying the root of virtue. Otherwise, it would have to be said that all powerful non-virtuous actions destroy the root of virtue. Therefore, the teacher Lekdenjé says that purifying non-virtues with the four opponent powers, as mentioned earlier, and destroying the root of virtue with wrong views and harmful intentions are both like seeds that have deteriorated and cannot sprout even when conditions are met. Even when conditions are met, they cannot produce results. That is, as mentioned earlier, even though accumulated sins are purified by applying the four opponent powers, this does not contradict the slow arising of the higher path. Similarly, for some, the results of giving and keeping vows, such as wealth and physical perfection, may be destroyed, but because they are accustomed to giving and renunciation, it is easy to generate the roots of virtue of giving and keeping vows again through similar causes, which cannot be destroyed. For others, the internal discipline and other similar causes, similar habits that arise continuously, are destroyed, but the results of physical and material perfections are not destroyed. And for some, as mentioned earlier, for bodhisattvas who have received prophecies, if they do not generate anger, they can complete the path to enlightenment in one eon, but if they generate one thought of anger, even if they do not abandon the path in their continuum, the speed of completing the path in one eon will be slowed down. In short, just as purifying non-virtues does not require purifying all of their effects, destroying virtues does not require destroying all of their effects, or so I think. However, this is important.

Since examination should only be based on the words of the great and sole Buddha and the reasoning that relies on them, one should carefully read the scriptures and examine them. Thus, causing extremely unpleasant results and preventing the production of extremely pleasant results are unseen faults. The faults in this life are: not being able to experience inner peace and tranquility, the joy and happiness that were there before disappear and future joy cannot be obtained, one cannot sleep and the mind cannot abide in its natural state, if anger is strong, one will even forget past kindness and kill benefactors, friends will also become tired and abandon one, even if one tries to gather them with generosity, they will not stay, etc. These have been said in the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra. Also, in the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra it says: "There is no evil like anger, no austerity like patience, therefore one should diligently cultivate patience in various ways." Having thought about the benefits and faults in this way, one should strive to cultivate patience from many aspects. It is not only anger that possesses the two evils of having severe results and destroying roots of virtue, but also the wrong view of denigration, abandoning the true Dharma, despising Bodhisattvas and Gurus, etc., and generating pride, etc., these should be understood from the Śikṣāsamuccaya. The way to cultivate patience without resentment towards the perpetrator is: to examine whether the perpetrator has autonomy in not causing harm. It is not that harm is done when there is autonomy, but rather, due to the causes and conditions of the seeds of previously habituated afflictions and improper attention, the intention to cause harm arises, and it also produces the actions of causing harm, and it causes others to suffer, because he himself has also become a slave to afflictions, like a servant. Even if there is no autonomy and harm is done by being driven by others, one should not be angry, for example, some people who are possessed by spirits want to harm the helpers who free them from that, and beat them, etc., but one thinks that this is done involuntarily by the spirit, therefore one does not get angry at him, but like striving to get rid of that spirit, the Bodhisattva should also do the same.
