Because of the syllable "Pa," the mind blazes; if there is no object of focus, the mind becomes peaceful. Therefore, a Bodhisattva skilled in means, with the perfection of wisdom that is completely pure, knows that the object of focus tends towards quiescence, but does not cause the focus on the roots of virtue to tend towards quiescence. Nor does he cause the focus on afflictions to arise, but abides in the object of focus of the pāramitās. He also separately contemplates the object of focus of emptiness, and also observes with great compassion the object of focus of all sentient beings. Thus, the manner of having no object of focus and the manner of having an object of focus are separately proclaimed, and must be distinguished. Similarly, one must loosen the bonds of afflictions and grasping at characteristics, and tightly bind with the rope of training; one must destroy the two faults, and should not destroy virtuous actions. Therefore, being bound by training and being bound by grasping at characteristics are not the same, and the relaxation of guarding vows and the relaxation of the bonds of grasping at self are also not the same. Therefore, the meanings of destruction and self-liberation, etc., should also be well examined. Teacher Kamalaśīla said: The way to prevent non-attention is: after placing it on the view of ascertaining the meaning of reality, it is not preventing meditation by focusing single-mindedly without paying attention to anything else. Rather, it is preventing the practice of meditating on emptiness by simply stopping and placing the mind without anything to settle on the meaning of reality ascertained by the view, without thinking about anything. This is the same for both mantra and pāramitā. However, the ways in which they are similar or different in cultivating by examining with discriminating wisdom in the ways of the two will be explained. The third has two parts: the general way of learning for the Mahāyāna, and the way of learning specifically for the Vajrayāna. The first has three parts: cultivating the desire to learn the bodhisattva's training, taking the vows of the Buddha's heirs after cultivating, and how to train after taking them. The first is: in both the Vinaya and the mantra, it is not permissible to listen to the subjects to be learned without first taking one's own vows, but this is different from those. First, one learns the subjects to be learned and cultivates the mindstream, and then, when one is happy to take them, the vows are bestowed. Therefore, after learning the subjects to be learned, making them the object of the mind, and on those,

If one wishes to learn and take vows from the bottom of one's heart, Because it is very stable, this is a good method. Secondly, in the commentary on the chapter on ethics, first, how to take the vows, and immediately after that, how to protect the root downfalls and the downfalls of offenses, and how to remedy them if they are broken, have been extensively determined, so it is necessary to read it before taking the vows, please understand it there. The third part has three points: the basis for what to learn, how the learnings are included there, and the order of how to learn. The first point is that although the distinctions of clarity are endless, if the categories are collected, all the bodhisattva's trainings are included in the six perfections. Therefore, the six perfections are the great vows that include all the essential points of the bodhisattva's path. The second part has two points: the actual meaning is the definite number, and incidentally, the order is definite. The first point is that the Blessed One only made a brief vow of the six perfections, but the Holy Regent explained the key points of the reasons for doing so according to his intention, and thus generated certainty. Therefore, these are the ways in which the numbers are definite, and if one gains a convincing certainty about these, then one will regard it as the best instruction for the practice of the six perfections. There are six here: depending on higher realms, depending on accomplishing the two benefits, depending on completely accomplishing all aspects of benefiting others, depending on collecting all the great vehicles, depending on all aspects of the path or method, and the definite number depending on the three trainings. The first point is that to complete the vast practices of enlightenment, one must go through many lifetimes. Moreover, in order for the path to reach a certain stage, one must have a completely perfect basis, otherwise, even if one only has a part of such a basis as the present one, one will not be able to accomplish any benefit. Therefore, one must have a complete basis that is perfect in every way. That is, the enjoyment that is enjoyed, the body that enjoys, the retinue that enjoys together, and all the actions that are undertaken must have four perfections. Even just having these perfections can often become a cause of afflictions, so one must also not be controlled by afflictions. Even that is not enough, one must also have a good discernment of the objects of entering and returning without reversing the places of acceptance and rejection.
