It is said that it can be transformed into the cause of Buddhahood. Sometimes, virtues such as generosity and discipline, which become the cause of higher rebirth, are also considered to be the cause of samsara and not the cause of Buddhahood. Please think calmly before speaking. Furthermore, the sutra says, "Attachment to the six perfections, such as generosity, is the work of Mara." Also, in the Third Aggregate Sutra, it says, "Having fallen into fixation, giving alms and guarding discipline with pride, etc., I confess each of these separately." And in the Brahma's Inquiry Sutra, it says, "All actions are conceptualizations; complete non-conceptualization is enlightenment." Do not be mistaken about these. The meaning of the first statement is that impure generosity, etc., arising from clinging to the two selves in a reversed manner, is said to be the work of Mara. It does not mean that generosity, etc., are shown to be the work of Mara. Otherwise, since all six perfections are mentioned, then meditation and wisdom should also be considered the work of Mara. The meaning of the second quote is also that it is said that way for the impure arising from clinging to reversed attachments, but it does not mean that generosity, etc., should not be practiced. If that were not the case, it would be necessary to say that falling into fixation and giving alms is not necessary, but in general, giving alms should be confessed. But it is not said that way. In the Final Stages of Meditation, it says, "This way of answering is extremely important, because if this is understood in a reversed way, all practices will be taken as grasping at the characteristics of the self of a person or dharma, and therefore regarded as having characteristics." If the mind of giving that thinks, "This is something to give away," and the mind of restraint that thinks, "This is something to restrain," and all such virtuous thoughts are the grasping of the self of dharma, holding onto the three spheres, then those who have found the view of the selflessness of dharma should negate them in every way, just like hatred and pride, etc., and it is not proper to rely on them intentionally. If all conceptualizations that think, "This is this, this is that," are taken as the grasping of the self of dharma, conceptualizing the three spheres, then contemplating the qualities of the spiritual friend and the precious human rebirth, etc., remembering death, contemplating the suffering of the lower realms, taking refuge, and "from this action comes this result," etc.

For all the learning of arising, love, compassion, and the cultivation of bodhicitta, as well as the precepts of entering the mind, this is this. This arises from this. This has this merit and this fault, thinking like this, one must straighten the determination. Therefore, the greater the determination towards it, the more the clinging to the self of dharma increases. Moreover, the greater the determination towards the selflessness of dharma, the smaller the determination towards those paths becomes from cultivation. Therefore, the two aspects of conduct and view contradict each other like hot and cold, so that there is no place to generate strong and lasting conviction in both. Therefore, just as in the state of fruition, there is no contradiction in placing the Dharmakaya as something to be attained and the Rupakaya as something to be attained. In the stage of the path, it is also necessary to have a non-contradictory way of leading to certainty even in the freedom from elaboration in which not even a particle of the object of grasping at the appearance of the two selves remains, and also leading to certainty that this arises from this, and that this has this fault and this merit. This also depends on the way the view of the base, the two truths, is established. Through scripture and reasoning, for all the phenomena of samsara and nirvana, the measure of establishing the ultimate truth in which not even a particle of inherent existence is established in its own way of abiding or existing, and the measure of establishing the conventional truth of cause and effect, in which cause and effect are established separately without any confusion, let alone becoming mutually harmful, if one finds certainty that they will become mutually helpful, then from then on, one enters the ranks of realizing the meaning of the two truths and obtaining the intention of the Victorious Ones. The meaning of the third scripture is that the occasion of that sutra is the time of analyzing birth and so on, so it is said that generosity and so on do not only arise at that time, but are considered. Thus, it is said that it is merely imputed by thought, but it is not said that those should not be relied upon, but should be abandoned, this is said from the last part of the Stages of Meditation. It is not enough to rely on only one path. From the Compendium of Sutras, it is also said that a Bodhisattva without skillful means should not strive for the profound dharma. This is clearly stated, and from the Secret Inconceivable Sutra, it is also said, "Son of lineage, for example, fire burns from causes, and if there are no causes, it will be extinguished. Similarly, the target"
