It is like that. Therefore, the Mahayana practitioner advances and retreats according to the presence or absence of the mind. As it is said in the "Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life," as soon as the mind arises, one immediately becomes a child of the Buddhas. The biography of Maitreya also says: 'Son of good family, just as a diamond jewel, even if broken, surpasses all excellent gold ornaments, does not abandon the name of diamond jewel, and can dispel all poverty. Son of good family, in the same way, the diamond jewel of the mind of enlightenment, even if not diligent, surpasses all the gold ornaments of the qualities of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, does not abandon the name of Bodhisattva, and can dispel all the poverty of samsara.' Therefore, it is said that even if one has not learned the conduct, as long as one has this mind, one is a Bodhisattva. Therefore, it is not enough that the Dharma is the Dharma of the Mahayana; it is important that the person enters the Mahayana. And entering the Mahayana depends entirely on the mind of enlightenment. Therefore, if one only has a slight understanding of the mind of enlightenment, then the Mahayana practitioner is similar to that; if this mind possesses all the characteristics, then the Mahayana practitioner will also become pure, so one should strive for this. Regarding this, the "Flower Ornament Sutra" says: 'Son of good family, the mind of enlightenment is like the seed of all the Buddhas' Dharmas.' One must gain certainty about this, so it will be explained. Among them, water, fertilizer, warmth, and earth, etc., when combined with the seed of rice, become the cause of the rice seedling; when combined with the seeds of wheat and beans, etc., they also become the cause of their seedlings, so these are common causes. The seed of barley, no matter what conditions it combines with, will not become the cause of rice seedlings, etc., so the cause of the barley seedling is a non-common cause. Similarly, the water, fertilizer, etc., that are possessed by it will also become the cause of the barley seedling. Similarly, the unsurpassed mind of enlightenment is the non-common cause, like a seed, among the causes of the Buddha's seedling; while the wisdom that realizes emptiness is like water, fertilizer, etc., and is the common cause of the three enlightenments. Therefore, it is also said in the "Uttaratantra": 'Faith in the supreme vehicle is the father's seed, wisdom is the mother of the Buddhas' Dharma.' This means that faith in the supreme vehicle is the father's seed.

The wisdom that realizes emptiness and selflessness is said to be like a mother. For example, if the father is Tibetan, it is impossible to give birth to children of Han, Mongol, etc., so the father is the decisive factor for the child's lineage. However, if the mother is Tibetan, she can give birth to all kinds of children, so it is like a common factor. Nagarjuna also said, "The Buddhas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Shravakas must rely on it. The path of liberation is only you. It is certain that there are no others." In this way, praising the Prajnaparamita, the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas also rely on it. Therefore, Prajnaparamita is also called "Mother," so it is the mother of the sons of both the Mahayana and Hinayana. Therefore, it is not the wisdom of realizing emptiness that distinguishes the Mahayana and Hinayana, but the Bodhicitta and vast conduct that distinguish them. As stated in the Ratnavali, "From the Shravakayana, the aspiration and complete dedication of the Bodhisattva's conduct are not taught. How can one become a Bodhisattva?" It is said in this way that it is not distinguished by view, but by conduct. In this way, if the wisdom of realizing emptiness cannot become the unique feature of the Mahayana path, then there is no need to mention other paths. Therefore, Bodhicitta must be taken as the core of the teachings and practiced. Second, it is divided into three points: the order of cultivating Bodhicitta, the measure of arising, and the way of taking it with rituals. First, there are two types of practice transmitted from Jowo Rinpoche (Atisha): the oral instruction of the seven-cause-and-effect method, and the reliance on what appears in the treatises of Aryadeva. The seven cause and effects are that the perfectly complete and enlightened Buddha arises from Bodhicitta, the mind arises from higher intention, intention arises from great compassion, great compassion arises from loving-kindness, loving-kindness arises from gratitude, gratitude arises from knowing gratitude, and knowing gratitude arises from seeing all sentient beings as mothers, totaling seven branches. This is further divided into two points: generating certainty about the order, and actually practicing in order. The first is further divided into two points: proclaiming that the root of the Mahayana path is great compassion, and the way in which other causes and effects become its causes and effects. The first is further divided into three points: initially important, intermediately important, and finally important. First, if great compassion moves the mind, one will definitely vow to liberate all sentient beings from samsara. If great compassion is weak, then
