Furthermore, the offering of practice is more excellent than the offering of material things and should be understood by analogy. Fourthly, from the Ratnarashi Sutra: If all the beings of the three thousand worlds were to build stupas of the Buddha, each as large as Mount Meru, and were to honor them with all kinds of offerings for countless eons, it would not equal the merit of a Bodhisattva who, without separating from the mind of omniscience, throws away a single flower. Likewise, one should understand the differences in intention, such as the high or low of what is obtained, and whether it is aimed at the benefit of oneself or others, as well as the strength, duration, and length of time. Regarding misdeeds, the stronger the thought of affliction and the longer it lasts, the greater the power. Among them, anger is particularly powerful. The Bodhicaryavatara says: "The merit accumulated over a thousand eons, such as giving and offering to the Sugatas, all virtuous deeds, are destroyed by a single act of anger." Moreover, practicing like Brahma, and especially being angry with a Buddha's child, is even more serious. The Samadhiraja Sutra says: "If one has a harmful thought towards even one sentient being, then even if one holds precepts, much learning cannot save them, meditation cannot save them, solitary places cannot save them, giving cannot save them, and offering to the Buddhas cannot." Third, there are three: the result of complete ripening, the result similar to the cause, and the result of ownership or dominance. First, each of the ten paths of action depends on the three root poisons, small, medium, and large, so there are three of each. Among them, each of the ten great sins, such as killing, leads to rebirth in hell; each of the ten medium sins leads to rebirth as a hungry ghost; and each of the ten minor sins leads to rebirth as an animal, as stated in the Root Sarvastivada Vinaya. In the Ten Bhumi Sutra, the results of the minor and medium are reversed. Second, even if one is reborn as a human from the lower realms, one will successively suffer the consequences of short life, lack of resources, unfaithful wives, being slandered, separation from friends, hearing unpleasant sounds, not listening to the advice of others, and having a strong tendency towards the three poisons of attachment, aversion, and ignorance. Third, in the case of killing, the power of external worldly food, medicine, and fruits is weak.
