Śed bu ser skya said to the monks who were learning and not learning, "Elephant-headed one, do you know Dharma or non-Dharma?" and made eighteen different kinds of abusive remarks. As a result, he was reborn as a crocodile-like creature with eighteen different headdresses. It is said that from the time of the teacher Light Protector (Ston pa 'od srungs) to the time of the Śākya king (Śākya'i rgyal po), he lived as an animal. In the Minor Vinaya (lung phran tshegs), it is recorded that after the teacher Destruction of Saṃsāra ('Khor ba 'jig) passed into nirvāṇa, King Beautiful Face (rGyal po mdzes ldan) had a large stupa built, and a worker mocked, "I don't know when such a large stupa will ever be finished!" He said it twice. Later, when the stupa was successfully completed, he regretted it and had golden bells made with his wages and hung them on the stupa. As a result, he was reborn as Good Sound (sNyan pa bzang ldan), who had a bad complexion, a small body, but a melodious voice. Therefore, do not say, "This image is just like this," and do not mock the creation of images with good materials and great effort, or the opposite behavior. A great yogi showed Jowo (Jo bo, the Venerable) an image of Mañjuśrī and asked, "Is this image good or bad? If it is good, I will buy it with the four liang of gold given by the Rongpa blacksmith (mGar dge)." Jowo said, "There is nothing bad about the body of the Venerable One, but the craftsmanship is mediocre." Then he placed it on his head. It is said that he did the same for all the completed images. For Dharma verses of four lines or more, one should also avoid disrespect, such as using scriptures as collateral, selling them as merchandise, placing them in unclean or tiring places, carrying them with shoes, stepping on them, etc., and treat them with respect as the Three Jewels. When Geshe (dGe bshes) Chennga (sPyan snga ba) saw the scriptures being brought in, he would fold his hands and stand up. Later, when he could not stand up, he would fold his hands. When Jowo went to Ngari (mNga' ris) (now the Ngari region), a mantra practitioner did not listen to his teachings. A scribe drew lines on the scriptures with a toothpick, and Jowo could not bear it and said, "Atsama (A tsa ma), no, no!" That mantra practitioner then developed faith and listened to the Dharma. Sharawa (Sha ra ba) said, "We seem to be joking with the Dharma. Disrespect for the Dharma and those who speak it is the cause of the decline of wisdom. It is enough to be ignorant now. What will happen if we become more ignorant?" For the Sangha or those who merely hold the signs of ordination,

Also, do not scold or despise others, and do not discriminate by saying "you and our people," treating them like enemies. Instead, treat them with respect like the Sangha, the Three Jewels. Encourage pure intention, as it says: Those who desire merit and live in the forest should not examine the faults of others. Do not generate thoughts like, "I am particularly superior, I am the most excellent." Pride is the root of all carelessness, do not despise inferior monks, otherwise liberation cannot be attained in one kalpa. This is the order in this teaching. And so on. Geshe Tonpa and great yogis would not even step on a yellow patch that was about to be stepped on, but would shake it off and send it to a clean place, and should learn like this. The more respect you have for the Three Jewels, the more respect beings will have for you, as it says in the Samadhiraja Sutra: Whatever kind of action is done, that kind of result will be obtained. And so on. The second part has six points: Remembering the differences and qualities of the Three Jewels, taking refuge again and again; Remembering the great kindness, constantly striving to make offerings, and offering the essence of food and drink; Remembering great compassion, also guiding other beings into this kind of behavior; Whatever you do, and whatever you need, offer to the Three Jewels and pray, abandoning other worldly methods; Knowing the benefits, taking refuge three times a day and three times a night; Not abandoning or protecting the Three Jewels even for life or jokes. The first point is: As said before, the differences between inner and outer, and within the Three Jewels, and their respective qualities, should be thought about again and again. The second point is: All the happiness that happens to you should be regarded as the kindness of the Three Jewels, and offerings should be made with the intention of repaying the kindness. Because you must eat and drink regularly, at that time, even if you continuously offer with those essences, you can complete many accumulations with little effort, so even anything above water should be offered from the bottom of your heart. Regarding this, Sharawa said: It should not be done like handling leftover vegetable leaves and yellow leaves, but the best part must be used. If you offer tea dregs as essence, it is like dusting, it will not do.
