It is pervasive with the wisdom of... While others have vast objects of knowledge, their wisdom is small and therefore cannot be pervasive. That is also said in "Praise of the Praiseworthy": Only your wisdom pervades all objects of knowledge, and for all others besides you, only (objects of knowledge) exceed. And: The Dharma that the Bhagavan always encompasses, all kinds of arising places, like an amalaka fruit in the palm of your hand, becomes the realm of your mind's activity. All dharmas, with motion and without motion, one and many, individually, like the wind moving in the sky, your mind has no obstruction. Think in this way. The second is: Just as sentient beings are bound by afflictions without autonomy, the Muni is also bound by great compassion without autonomy. When he sees sentient beings suffering, great compassion arises continuously. In the "Hundred and Fifty Verses" it says: All these beings are bound by undifferentiated afflictions. You are bound by compassion for a long time in order to liberate beings from afflictions. Should I prostrate to you first? Or to the one who made you aware of the faults in samsara for so long, and who abides with great compassion? And in the "Chapter on the Truthful One" it also says: If one sees beings whose minds are always obscured by the darkness of ignorance, plunged into the prison of samsara, then that upright sage generates compassion. Remember in this way. The fourth is: Benefiting all sentient beings with the spontaneous accomplishment and continuousness of the activities of body, speech, and mind. That is to say, from the perspective of those to be tamed, if those to be tamed can be tamed, then the Muni does not fail to place those to be tamed in perfection and rescue them from decline. Therefore, it is said that all that should be done will definitely be done. Potowa said: If you think about it again and again, your faith will increase and your mindstream will become more and more pure, and blessings will arise. Gaining certainty about this, taking refuge from the depths of your heart, and merely learning from his teachings, then everything you do will become a single act of practicing the Dharma of the Buddha. We don't even consider the Buddha's wisdom to be as sharp as the sharpest diviner. A very sharp diviner said, this year you have no harsh obstacles. I know.

Some people live leisurely. They say, "This year there are many things to do, and we can't finish doing this and that." Then they try hard to do it. If they can't finish, they think, "I can't finish it." Then they feel unhappy. Should we trust what the Buddha said, "Do this and this, and you will accomplish this and this"? If you can't finish, will you feel unhappy? They say, "The Dharma says that, but now because of time and place, it doesn't work that way, you have to do it this way." Then they throw the Buddha's words behind their heads and do it according to their own ideas. If you don't examine it, but just think it sounds good and are deceived by the words, but instead turn back and examine it carefully in your heart, you will find it very absurd. Therefore, you should repeatedly think about the Buddha's qualities and strive to generate definite understanding from the bottom of your heart. If definite understanding arises, then the same definite understanding will arise for the Dharma on which the Buddha relies and the Sangha who practice this Dharma, so refuge becomes meaningful. Otherwise, let alone other paths, even refuge itself cannot be convincing. Second, taking reverence for the Buddha as the reason. One should remember that the Buddha has infinite qualities, and that he is obtained through realizing and practicing the Dharma of scripture and realization, abandoning the faults of cessation and the path, and accomplishing qualities. This is the meaning of truly remembering the Dharma.

Having abandoned other refuges, I seek refuge in you, the Bhagavan. That is because you have no faults and possess virtues. Thus it is said. Regarding the tenets of other non-Buddhists, the more I contemplate them, the more my mind develops faith in you, the protector. Thus, those whose minds are destroyed by the faults of non-omniscient doctrines, those whose minds are destroyed, cannot see you, the faultless teacher. Thus it is said. Fourth, there are two: individual precepts and common precepts. First, there are two: precepts of negation and precepts of accomplishment. The first is: From the Nirvana Sutra: Whoever goes for refuge to the Three Jewels is a true Upasaka. Never should they go for refuge to other gods. Going for refuge to the sacred Dharma means being free from the mind of harming and killing. Going for refuge to the Sangha also means not associating with non-Buddhists. As it is said, not going for refuge to other gods, abandoning harm to sentient beings, and not associating with non-Buddhists are the three. The first of these is that worldly gods such as the powerful deities and those who pervade should not be regarded as ultimate refuges, let alone the local deities and nagas who have become pretas. If one does not have faith in the Three Jewels and relies on them, that is not right. However, it is not wrong to seek their help for some temporary, Dharma-related activities. For example, like seeking help for livelihood from a patron, like having expectations of a doctor to cure illness. Second, abandoning harm in thought and action, such as beating, binding, imprisoning, piercing the nose, and loading beyond capacity on humans and animals. Third, not associating with those who do not believe in the Three Jewels and slander them. Second, one should not evaluate or place the Buddha's image, whether painted or sculpted, in a tiring place. Abandoning disrespectful and contemptuous actions such as mortgaging, one should regard it as an object of veneration like the teacher. In the Letter to a Friend, it says: Even if the Tathagata's image is made of wood, no matter how it is made, the wise should offer to it. Thus it is said. From the Vinaya-vibhanga:
