将三尖的炽热铁树插入臀部，左右两尖穿过双肩，中间一尖从头顶穿出。由此，口等诸门燃起火焰。用炽热燃烧的铁板包裹身体，在充满燃烧的铁铜熔液中，以蹲踞之姿煮沸，上下四处移动。此时，皮肤、血肉消融，仅剩骨架。再取出，置于铁地上。之后，皮肤、血肉再生，再次放入。其余与之前相同。在地狱中，从东方开始，有无数百千由旬的土地燃烧蔓延，火焰的力量袭来，逐渐剥离众生的皮肤、肌肉、筋腱、骨骼，直至脚部。如同酥油灯芯一般，全身被火焰覆盖。其他三方也与之相同。四方之火交汇，无间断地感受痛苦，发出哀嚎，仅存知觉。在铁粉中，让铁虫在熊熊烈火中啃噬。在铁地上，让其攀爬巨大的铁山。从口中拉出舌头，用百钉钉住，像处理牛皮一样摊平，使其毫无褶皱。又将其仰面置于铁地上，用铁钳撬开嘴巴，将燃烧的铁块塞入口中，灌入沸腾的铜液，口、喉、肠等被烧焦，从下身流出。其余与之前一样炽热。感受这些痛苦的时间长短，如《亲友书》所说： “如是难忍诸痛苦， 经历百千俱胝年， 恶业未尽终不死， 尔乃命断脱离彼。” 如是所说。其中，五十年为四大天王的一日，三十日为一月，十二月为一年，五百年为四大天王之寿命。以其全部，一日为三十日，十二月为一年。

In the Avici hell, from the east, countless hundreds of thousands of yojanas of land burn and spread, and the force of the flames comes, gradually peeling off the skin, muscles, tendons, and bones of the beings, down to the feet. Like the wick of a butter lamp, the entire body is covered with flames. The other three directions are the same. The fires from the four directions converge there, and the suffering is experienced without interruption, causing cries of agony, with only consciousness remaining. In iron filings, iron worms are made to gnaw in the blazing fire. On the iron ground, they are made to climb huge iron mountains. The tongue is pulled out from the mouth and stretched with a hundred nails, flattened like processing cowhide, making it without wrinkles. Again, it is laid supine on the iron ground, and the mouth is pried open with iron tongs, and burning iron lumps are stuffed into the mouth, and boiling copper liquid is poured in, burning the mouth, throat, intestines, etc., and flowing out from the lower body. The rest is as hot as before. The duration of experiencing these sufferings is as stated in the "Letter to a Friend": "Such unbearable sufferings, Experienced for hundreds of thousands of kotis of years, Until the evil karma is exhausted, one does not die, Then life is cut off and one is released from it." As it is said. Therein, fifty human years are one day of the Four Great Kings, thirty days are one month, twelve months are one year, and five hundred years are the lifespan of the Four Great Kings. Taking all of that, one day is thirty days, and twelve months are one year.

Five hundred is the lifespan of the Reviving Hell. Similarly, one hundred years, two hundred years, four hundred years, eight hundred years, and sixteen hundred years are one day in the order from the Thirty-Three Heavens to the Paranirmitavasavartin Heaven. The lifespans are a thousand years of the gods, two thousand years, four thousand years, eight thousand years, and sixteen thousand years. Those are, in order, from the Black Line Hell to the Hot Hell, each day being from one thousand to sixteen thousand of their own years. The Extremely Hot Hell lasts for half an intermediate kalpa, and the Avici Hell lasts for one intermediate kalpa, as stated in the Treasure Trove Sutra and the Basis of the Earth Sutra. Secondly, each of the eight hells has four walls and four doors. Outside of those, there is an iron fence surrounding them, and that fence also has four doors. Each of those doors has four additional hellish beings: a pit of embers, a swamp of decaying corpses or a place that smells like a latrine, a path of razors, and immeasurable rivers. When they fall there, jackals come and pick them up from behind and eat them.
