Two kinds of ultimate truth are spoken of. In the Madhyamaka Illuminating Treatise, it says: 'The unborn is also called ultimate truth because it accords with the ultimate truth, but it is not actually so. In reality, the ultimate truth is beyond all elaborations.' Also, in the Ornament of Madhyamaka, it says: 'Because it accords with the meaning of the ultimate, this is called the meaning of the ultimate. In reality, it is liberated from all collections of elaborations.' Also, the Two Truths Treatise speaks similarly. In the self-commentary of the Two Truths and the Ornament, the negation of arising, etc., in the ultimate truth is explained as conventional. The meaning of these is: Many of the ancients made two kinds of ultimate truth, whether nominal or not. The emptiness that negates arising, etc., as ultimately true in form, etc., is the former, which is the imputed ultimate truth, and the conventional truth has characteristics. The latter is considered unknowable because no mind can make it an object. That is not the meaning of those, so it is explained as follows: Although the nature of objects must be ultimate, there are many such statements about the intellect that possesses objects. In the Two Truths Treatise, it says: 'Because it is not deceptive, reason is ultimate.' Also, in the Madhyamaka Illuminating Treatise, it says: 'Whatever is said, such as there is no arising in the ultimate truth, the meaning of that is considered to be this: All knowledge arising from correct hearing, thinking, and meditation is called ultimate because it is a non-inverted object-possessor, because this is the ultimate truth.' As it is said. Among the intellects are the non-conceptual wisdom of equipoise that transcends the two, and the intellect with concepts that measures suchness based on signs, and so on. In the Blaze of Reasoning, the intention of explaining the ultimate truth as having two aspects: non-conceptual wisdom and the wisdom that accords with it, and the intention of explaining the two ultimate truths in the Madhyamaka Illuminating Treatise are the same. Therefore, the explanation of the two ultimate truths is not for the object-possessor, but only for the ultimate truth of the object, which is not the meaning of the treatise. The first of these is: Entering into suchness is the real ultimate truth because it can simultaneously cut off the elaborations of truth and dualistic appearance in its own object. The meaning of 'beyond all elaborations' is also this. The second is: It prevents the elaborations of truth in its own object.

But even if one has the ability, one cannot cut off the proliferation of dualistic appearance, it is the ultimate truth that is in accordance with the ultimate truth and appearance that transcends the world. Regarding the ultimate truth of form, etc., the object of the ultimate truth that prevents arising, etc., it is also necessary to explain two ways. In this regard, the emptiness of the object, in the face of non-conceptual wisdom, is the real ultimate truth that is free from both elaborations; in the face of conceptual wisdom, because it is only free from one aspect of elaboration, it is not the real ultimate truth that is free from both elaborations. But in general, it is not to say that ultimate truth is not real. Therefore, unless in the face of some minds, it is free from all the elaborations of dualistic appearance, it is impossible for the true emptiness to be free from all the elaborations of appearance. Therefore, if the ultimate truth must be free from all the elaborations of dualistic appearance, this is not the meaning of the scriptures. Therefore, if illusion is established by reason, the basis such as aggregates and the appearance of true emptiness are combined, and the meaning established by rational inference is merely regarded as the ultimate truth, it will become a conforming ultimate truth, not the ultimate truth. Also, establishing the unreal appearance of sprouts, etc., with the appearance of true oneness and otherness, for a wise person who is hesitant about whether the base is truly existent or not, it is meaningless to establish it in that way; for those who have cut off hesitation, that reason will no longer be a correct reason. In the Madhyamaka appearance, the two characteristics of the cause of one and otherness are only said to be distinctions, and it is said that it is the same whether one makes one and non-one, or the two as non-one, as the cause, this is not directed at non-affirmation, but can be understood from its own example. Therefore, the views of Master Shantarakshita and his sons and Master Simhabhadra are definitely not like this. For appearance, the distinction of the elaboration to be refuted is divided into distinction and total exclusion, and the view that the latter, the meaning measured by inference, is merely the ultimate truth is not accepted by any great Madhyamaka master. In this way, one should also understand in detail the explanation of these phenomena in the Extensive Stages of the Path. After explaining that preventing arising, etc., is the conforming ultimate truth, the Two Truths Self-Commentary says: Other schools hold only to be true, so the word "also" is the meaning of summarizing. If analyzed by reason, it is only conventional, why?
