Therefore, the word "merely" is used to determine the truth, but not to determine the conventional truth, so one should understand the intention of the two spoken of, the conventional merely and the conventional truth, in that way. In the Commentary, it says: "What is true in the worldly convention is the worldly conventional truth." As it says in the Commentary on Entering the Middle Way: "By convention, whatever appears as true, and although it is without self-nature, it appears separately as self-nature, that is the truth in the worldly inverted convention, so it is the worldly conventional truth." It should be done as it is clearly stated that it appears as true in the face of the ignorance of the conventional, as previously stated, and it should not be made into a truth established in name, otherwise, because it contradicts the tenet that self-nature is impossible to establish in name, and because the negation of true establishment and the establishment of non-existence of truth are all done in name. In this way, one should also understand what the scholar Yeshe Nyingpo said about abiding as true in the conventional. If one thinks, then are the nature of phenomena and the self, the two, true in the face of the grasping at truth, so will they become the conventional truth? If in the face of the grasping at truth, merely establishing it as true, then it would become the conventional truth, but we do not say that, the truth of the conventional truth is merely saying what kind of conventional is true in the face of what kind of conventional, and the reason for being true in that face. Second, each of these external and internal things has two natures, ultimate and conventional. For example, in the case of a sprout, there is the nature of the sprout obtained by the intellect that sees the meaning of the correct knowledge, and the nature of the sprout obtained by the nominal knowledge that measures the meaning of the false and deceptive knowledge. The former is the nature of the ultimate truth of the sprout, and the latter is the nature of the conventional truth of the sprout. Like that, It also says in Entering the Middle Way: "By seeing all things as true and false, one can grasp the two natures of things. Whatever is seen as true is the ultimate, and what is seen as false is said to be the conventional truth." Like this. This explains that the nature of the sprout has the nature of the two truths, the ultimate is obtained by the former knowledge, and the conventional is obtained by the latter knowledge, the nature of the sprout

It is incorrect to explain the two truths by merely relying on understanding the relationship between the before and after of a single phenomenon. As it says in the Commentary on the "Entering the Middle Way": "The self-nature of all things is shown to be of two kinds, namely, the conventional and the ultimate." Thus, dividing the self-nature of each thing into two, the ultimate truth is attained through the wisdom that sees the true meaning, while the conventional truth is attained through the wisdom that sees the false. The conventional truth is not true in reality, but is only true in the appearance of clinging to truth, so it must be determined that its meaning is necessarily false. For example, in the case of something like a vase, it must be determined that it is false and deceptive, and one must attain a view that refutes the object of clinging, which clings to that basis as true, through reasoning. For if the truth is not refuted by reasoning, then the false cannot be established by valid cognition. Although vases, woolen cloth, and so on are conventional truths, it is not necessary for the meaning of the conventional truth to be established by the mind when they are established by the mind. For example, even though vases, woolen cloth, and so on appear like illusions without inherent existence, it is not necessary for the mind that establishes them to establish the meaning of the illusion-like appearance. Therefore, it is unreasonable to say that vases, woolen cloth, and so on are conventional truths in relation to the consciousness of ordinary beings who lack the view of the Middle Way, and that they are established as ultimate truths in relation to noble beings. As it says in the Commentary on the "Entering the Middle Way": "That which is the ultimate truth for ordinary beings is merely the conventional truth for those noble beings who possess appearances. And that which is the emptiness of their self-nature is the ultimate truth for them." To speak contrary to this is incorrect. Ordinary beings cling to vases and so on as true, and they also cling to them as existing ultimately. Therefore, relying on their consciousness, vases and so on are established as ultimately existing, not as conventional meanings. In their view, the basis that is established as ultimately existing—vases and so on—becomes conventional in relation to the vision of the wisdom that measures the appearance in the continuum of noble beings as like an illusion. Because it is impossible to establish them as true in relation to that consciousness, it is said that they are merely conventional. Even so, because their self-nature is said to be the ultimate truth, vases and so on are conventional, and their self-nature is the ultimate for noble beings.
