Regarding these three faults, the first mentioned in the commentary on the "Entering the Path of Enlightenment" is: In the "Entering the Path of Enlightenment," it says, "Those that are distinct by their own nature, it is not reasonable for them to belong to one continuum." Therefore, for things that are distinct in their past and future and established by their own nature, it is not reasonable for the latter to rely on the former, because the past and future things are independent and self-established, so they should not rely on others. If it is unreasonable for the continuum to be one, then the recollection of "I became like this at that time" is unreasonable. Just as Devadatta, whose continuum is different, does not think "I became offering" when he remembers his past life. In one's own system, even though each moment is destroyed, it is not contradictory for the past and future continuum to be one, so it is reasonable to remember past lives. Those who do not understand this point, in the sutras, it is said, "I was here before," which is said many times. Therefore, the person at the time of the Buddha and the person before that time are one. If it is conditioned, it cannot be one because it is destroyed in an instant. Therefore, both are permanent. This gives rise to the first of the four wrong views that rely on the extreme of the past. In order not to fall into this, when remembering past lives, one should not distinguish between place, time, and nature, but should understand well the special way of remembering in general as "I." The second fault is that the actions done are wasted, that is, the actor and the one who experiences the result cannot be established on the basis of the same "I." The fault of encountering actions not done is that all the fruits of actions accumulated by others with different continuums will be experienced by another continuum, which is very excessive. The occurrence of these two faults, as mentioned earlier, is the key to the fact that if the person is established by his own nature, then the past and future moments cannot be one continuum. As it is said in the "Root Wisdom," "If the god and the human are different, the continuum will not be reasonable." If someone thinks, what is the fault if I and the aggregates are different entities established by their own nature? The "Root Wisdom" says, "If there is an I other than the aggregates, it will lose the characteristics of the aggregates." This is how the fault is stated. If I am different from the aggregates in nature, then,

The characteristics represented by aggregates and other conditioned phenomena will become devoid of characteristics such as arising, ceasing, and abiding. For example, when a horse and a cow become different things, they no longer possess the characteristics of a cow. If someone thinks this way, then it should not be the object of the co-emergent clinging, the basis for designating "I," because it is not a conditioned phenomenon. For example, like a flower in the sky or nirvana. Furthermore, if the nature of the aggregates and so on is different from form and so on, then they must be distinguished in that way, just as form and mind are distinguished. Because there is no such clinging, "I" does not exist independently. As the Root Wisdom says: "I am not outside the aggregates, how can there be grasping? If you say there is grasping apart from the aggregates, that is not the case." Also, as the Entering the Middle Way says: "Therefore, there is no self other than the aggregates, because clinging to it is not established apart from the aggregates." Therefore, through these reasons, one should repeatedly train to gain a firm understanding of the refutation of the idea that the self and the aggregates are of different entities. If a clear understanding of the refutation is not obtained on these two aspects of oneness and otherness, then even if one determines that a person is without inherent existence, it will only be a verbal commitment, and one will not be able to obtain a pure view. Second, in this way, when searching with reason whether the self has inherent existence, neither oneness nor otherness can be found, therefore, when the self's inherent existence is negated, the inherent existence of the self cannot be found with the reason that analyzes the ultimate, just as if the son of a barren woman cannot be found, then his eyes and so on cannot be found either. As the Root Wisdom says: "If the self does not exist, how can the self's exist?" Also, as the Entering the Middle Way says: "Because there is no agent, there is no action, therefore, when there is no self, there is no self's, therefore, the yogi sees the emptiness of the self and the self's and is liberated." Therefore, by establishing the reason that the self or person who clings to "I" as one's own is not established by its own entity, all persons from hell to Buddha and all their possessions, and the contaminated and uncontaminated aggregates that are the basis for designation, whether they are the same entity or different,
