If the earth is completely shattered and even a particle cannot be found, then there are as many perfections of wisdom in the world. It is said that if one examines all phenomena with wisdom and sees that even a particle cannot be found, then one enters the perfection of wisdom. How does this not contradict the many different kinds of reasoning that must be examined separately? If one does not think so, then what is the reason for saying that one should not examine all phenomena separately? If, like the Hwashang, one thinks that all conceptualization binds one to samsara, then one must also think that all the instructions for non-conceptualization, such as meditating on "zhuxiao," also bind one to samsara. There have been many refutations of this before. Therefore, not clinging to these as true is the meaning of the scriptures. If one wants to prevent the conceptualization of clinging to truth, for example, when one mistakes a rope for a snake and creates suffering, one reverses the delusion by ascertaining that there is no snake as the mind perceives it. Just as there is no other way, one must ascertain with correct reasons that the object of clinging to truth, the true object, does not exist, and become familiar with its meaning. Merely turning back the mind that clings to truth cannot prevent it. Furthermore, one must think that clinging to truth is a delusion, because if it is not a delusion, there is no need to prevent it. Even if one thinks that the mind is a delusion, how can one know that it is a delusion if one does not know that the object it clings to does not exist? Because whether the mind is a delusion or not depends entirely on whether the object it clings to exists or not. The non-existence of the object that clinging to truth clings to cannot be established merely by assertion, so it depends on the collection of pure scriptures and reasoning to prove it. Having done so, one establishes the absence of truth, and then abides in non-conceptualization of truth, then this is what we desire. Therefore, non-conceptualization preceded by the examination of discriminating wisdom is necessary, and mere non-conceptualization is not sufficient. The Last Meditation Stage also says: "Therefore, it should be observed that the absence of mindfulness and the absence of attention that arise from the holy Dharma are also preceded by correct discrimination. Because only correct discrimination can accomplish the absence of mindfulness and the absence of attention, otherwise it is not possible." And,

The noble Cloud of Jewels and the Saṃdhinirmocana-sūtra, among others, also declared that I am the very nature of perfect discrimination. The noble Cloud of Jewels declared: "To realize the lack of inherent existence by means of higher vision is to enter into the signless." It also appears in the noble Laṅkāvatāra-sūtra: "Mahāmati, because one does not realize the characteristics of self and generality when examined by the mind, therefore all phenomena are said to be without inherent existence." If it were not for perfect discrimination, then it would contradict the many kinds of perfect discrimination that the Blessed One declared in those sūtras. Therefore, it is not reasonable to say, "I am of little wisdom and little diligence, and I am unable to fully seek extensive learning." Because the Blessed One praised extensive learning, it is not proper to abandon it at any time. It should be understood as it is said. Similarly, all those statements that one should not abide with the mind in anything from form up to omniscience are saying that those things cannot be grasped as truly existing objects of abiding. If that were not the case, then it would also be said in the same way about the six perfections and so forth, and therefore it would be necessary not to abide in those things either. As explained earlier, not being able to abide by grasping as truly existing depends on realizing that those things are not truly existing. Therefore, know that all such statements of non-abiding and non-thinking are spoken only with the intention of refuting the inherent existence or true existence of objects, preceded by perfect and correct discrimination. Therefore, when the scriptures speak of the inconceivable and beyond the mind, it is to prevent the conceit of realizing the profound meaning merely by hearing and thinking about it. These are to be known by each individual noble being, and therefore they are shown to be inconceivable to others, and also to prevent grasping the profound meaning as true and thinking about it improperly. It should be understood that this does not prevent proper investigation with discriminating wisdom. As it says in the final Bhāvanākrama: "Thus, whenever one hears the words 'inconceivable' and so forth,
