It is said that in the three cases, once Shamatha and Vipassana are accomplished, one should meditate by doing a lot of analysis. Moreover, it is also said in the Bodhisattvacharyavatara, "Yogis prevent self," etc., which explains that these analyses should be done during meditation. Because a yogi refers to someone who has attained either Shamatha or Vipassana. Moreover, it is not that one does not seek the meaning of viewing before Shamatha is accomplished. Because after Samadhi, the chapter on wisdom speaks of the analysis of viewing, so through the key of that sequence, Samadhi is accomplished, intending to analyze the two non-selves. Moreover, it is also said in the Madhyamakahridaya, "Wisdom after Samahita, through the door of names, for these graspable dharmas and things, one should examine them with wisdom in this way." Moreover, the commentary says that after the arising of Samadhi, the analysis of viewing should be done. Moreover, it is also said in the Bodhisattvacharyavatara, that after accomplishing as it is said in the chapter on Shamatha Samadhi, then when meditating on wisdom, one should meditate through rational analysis. Therefore, the sequence of the last two Paramitas and the sequence of the last two trainings are all the sequence of first accomplishing Samadhi and then meditating on wisdom. For that way of meditating on wisdom, all that is spoken through analyzing how and how much is the sequence of meditation, so do not think wrongly. Not only that, but many great treatises say so, so there is no doubt that analysis is done during meditation. In this way, after Shamatha is accomplished, when meditating on Vipassana, if one only does analytical meditation, then the previous Shamatha will be destroyed. Moreover, because it is not newly cultivated, it will become without Shamatha. Therefore, Vipassana will not arise either, as said before. Therefore, one must protect the previously accomplished Shamatha, and one must also do analytical meditation, so both are needed. That is, after completing the analytical meditation of Vipassana, by placing the meaning on that, one does the abiding meditation, thereby accomplishing the union of Shamatha and Vipassana that focuses on non-self. In the Madhyamakakramala, the noble Ratnamegha also said: Like this, the one who is skilled in faults, in order to be separated from all elaborations, is in yoga with meditating on emptiness. Because he meditates on emptiness a lot, wherever

The mind wanders, and if one completely seeks the nature of those places that make the mind manifest joy, one will realize emptiness. Wherever the mind is, if one seeks there, one will also realize emptiness. Whatever the mind realizes through, if one seeks that nature completely, one will realize emptiness. It is said that realizing in this way leads to entering the yoga without signs. This shows that only by first engaging in thorough contemplation can one enter the state without signs. It is very clearly shown that merely abandoning mental activity completely, without examining the nature of things with wisdom, cannot lead to entering the state of non-conceptualization. Thus it is said. That scriptural passage says that if one examines the objects of the wandering mind and the wandering mind itself, one will realize emptiness, and that the emptiness that is realized, if sought or examined, will also be realized as emptiness, and it also says that those things function during the practice of emptiness. It also says that by realizing emptiness through examination, one can enter the yoga without signs. Therefore, without first engaging in rational examination that seeks through thorough contemplation, as the Hwashang desires, merely abandoning the mental activity of gathering the wandering mind, it is clearly shown that it is impossible to enter the state without signs or non-conceptualization. Therefore, as previously explained, use the sword of reason to cut off the self-nature of the two selves in all phenomena, not even a particle of which is established, and thereby firmly establish the certainty of selflessness. In this way, if the entity of the two selves does not exist, then what is there that is truly established as the non-existence that is negated by it? It is like holding that the non-existence of a barren woman's son exists, which depends on the concepts of a barren woman and a son. If those two concepts are never posited, then no one would ever posit that the non-existence of a barren woman's son truly exists. If no truly existing thing is ever posited on any basis, then the conceptual thought that holds its non-existence to truly exist will also not arise. Therefore, all conceptual thoughts that grasp at signs will cease, because if it is a conceptual thought of grasping at reality, then it must be one of the conceptual thoughts that grasp at either things or non-things as real. Therefore, the *Stages of Meditation* says that if the pervader ceases, then the pervaded will also cease. In this way, there is no certainty that anything, whether existent or non-existent, is truly established, not even a particle. Generate a certainty that penetrates deeply, and the meaning determined by it
