Also, all the scriptures and treatises, knowing them well as they are, bring joy to the wise. Having thoroughly studied such principles, rely on the virtuous friend, and may the first Buddha, Manjushri, who has been well protected, by that power, be extremely skilled in distinguishing right from wrong, may that supreme among the wise always protect. The crown jewel of all scholars in the world, the banner of fame flies in the world, Nagarjuna and Asanga, the stages of the path to enlightenment that are successively transmitted from them, by fulfilling all the wishes of beings, is the king of precious instructions, and for the sake of gathering the rivers of thousands of scriptures, it is also the ocean of auspicious good sayings. That Pandit Marmeza (Atisha), after making it clear in the snowy mountains, the eye of the excellent path of this direction, has not been closed for a long time. Then, when all the wise ones who truly understood the essential points of the teachings passed away, this excellent path also declined after a long time. Seeing that situation, in order to flourish the teachings, all the teachings spoken by the Buddhas, with the excellent vehicle of the Great Vehicle, the only path of the fortunate beings, the way to gather and practice well, not too broad nor too brief, all the essential points of meaning, without any omission, even a person with small wisdom can easily understand, I guide from the path of proper discernment with reason and scripture. The conduct of the Bodhisattvas is extremely difficult to understand, I am a child among children, therefore, if there is any mistake here, I confess before those who truly see. There, the two accumulations accumulated through long effort, as vast as the sky, by this may all beings whose minds are blinded by ignorance, become the lords of the guides, the Buddhas. In all lifetimes before attaining this state, may Manjushri lovingly hold me, obtain the supreme path that fulfills all the teachings, and become praised by the Buddhas after realization. With the essential points of the path that one has truly realized, and the skillful means brought about by intense compassion, after dispelling the darkness in the minds of beings, may the teachings of the Buddhas be maintained for a long time. In those places that have become decadent, With great compassion, may my mind be greatly moved, May the treasure of benefit and happiness be revealed. From the wondrous activities of the Buddhas with their sons, And also from the excellent stages of the path to enlightenment, Granting joy to the minds of those who desire liberation, May the activities of the Buddhas long endure. All those who accomplish the conducive conditions for arranging the good path, And who eliminate obstacles, both human and non-human, In all lifetimes, may they not be separated from the pure path, Praised by all the Buddhas! Whenever one strives to properly accomplish the ten practices of the supreme vehicle, May the powerful ones always assist, May the ocean of auspiciousness pervade all directions! Thus, the essence of all the Buddha's teachings is summarized. It is the tradition of the great charioteers Nagarjuna and Asanga, the supreme Dharma of individuals who proceed to the state of omniscience, and the complete teaching of the stages of the path to enlightenment, which shows the order of practice for the three types of individuals. Except for the words that only show the general characteristics of the three types of individuals in the "Lamp for the Path", I did not quote them because I thought they were easy, but based on the framework of the stages of the path of the great translator and Grolungpa father and son, I collected the key points from many stages of the path. This is arranged so that it is easy to carry for the completeness of the path and the order is not confused. The great chariot in the midst of the snow mountains, the fearless courage for the vast scriptures, the virtuous one who properly practices the meaning of the great treatises, thus creating the joy of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, the extraordinary great hero, the noble and virtuous Jetsun Redawa and other holy lamas take the dust of their feet on their heads. The well-learned monk yogi Shar Tsongkhapa Losang Drakpa Pal excellently composed this in the mountain hermitage at the foot of the Rock Lion, the upper hermitage of Gyalwa's solitary place in the north of Radreng (Reting, north of Lhasa), and the scribe is Sonam Pal Zangpo.
