My picture is very clear. Second, who do these two follow to instill the view into their minds? Thus, if those great Madhyamikas who follow the noble father and sons have two different systems of Svatantrika and Prasangika, which one should they follow? Here, we are following the Prasangika system. This also, as previously stated, involves refuting inherent existence in conventional terms, and after refuting it, we need a system that can perfectly establish all aspects of samsara and nirvana. Therefore, we must gain certainty about these two methods. If things If we accept inherent existence, then the rational investigation of how things exist, which is extensively discussed in the treatises of these two teachers, is seen to be very consistent with the treatises of the noble father and sons, so we accept that system. If that is the case, then, as previously stated, it seems necessary to accept the Prasangika side. Third, there are three ways to instill the view into the mind based on that action: establishing the selflessness of persons, establishing the selflessness of phenomena, and eliminating obscurations by familiarizing oneself with those views. The first has three parts: directly establishing the selflessness of the self, showing that what belongs to the self is also established as selfless, and applying those reasonings to others as well. The first has two parts: giving examples and applying them to the meaning. The first is a sutra quoted in the commentary on the "Entering the Middle Way": The so-called self is the mind of Mara, you are the one who has become a view. These aggregates of action are empty, and there are no sentient beings in them. Just as relying on the collection of limbs, it is said to be a chariot, likewise, relying on the aggregates, it is conventionally called a sentient being. Thus, using the example of relying on one's own parts, such as wheels, to designate a chariot, because it is said that relying on the aggregates also designates a self or sentient being, we must first explain the example of the chariot. This has four points: showing that the chariot is an imputation that lacks inherent existence, refuting disputes about it, the way it is established through the difference of names, and the benefit of quickly gaining insight based on it. The first is, in the "Entering the Middle Way": The chariot does not want its own limbs, it is neither different nor non-different, nor does it possess them

They are not in the limbs, nor are the limbs in them. It is merely an aggregation, not a shape, just as it is. It is said that just as a chariot is merely designated because it lacks one and different, etc., in its own limbs, so too are the self and the aggregates. Here, if the chariot had an inherently established nature, it would undoubtedly have to be established by reason whether or not it had a nature in any of the seven forms of one and different, etc. But since it is not established by any of those seven, it has no nature. The limbs of the chariot are the axle, the wheel, the nail, and so on. The chariot is not of one nature with those limbs, for if it were one, then just as those limbs are many, so too would the chariot become many; and just as the chariot is one, so too would the limbs become one; and the agent and the act would also become one, and so on. It is also not inherently established as separate from its own limbs, for if it were, then like a pot and a cloth, it would be possible to point them out separately in each place, but since they are not pointed out, there is no cause for designation. The two aspects of support and supported are not like yogurt in a container, not supported by its own limbs, nor are they dependent on the limbs like a person on a ladder, for if the two existed separately by their own nature, they would be established, but since that does not exist. Here, it is not the mere mutual existence that is being refuted, but the establishment of support and supported by their own characteristics. The two examples that are given are also to refute the views of others who claim that support and supported are established by their own characteristics, and this should be understood in all such cases. The aspect of possession is also unreasonable, for just as a god is associated with cows that have become something else, if it is said that a chariot is also associated with its limbs, then just as one holds cows and gods as separate, so too should one hold the chariot as separate from its limbs, but since one does not hold them as such, there is no such association. Just as it is said, "A god has ears," so too it is unreasonable to say that a chariot has limbs, for since the difference in nature has been refuted, there is no inherently established one.
