If the agreement of those two methods is enough to be known by another person, then the Tirthikas and others will also become like that, and it cannot be avoided. If it is not like that, but this person knows that the two methods agree, and then puts them down, if you think like that, then if you know such a method of agreement, you will gain insight. If you do not understand the view, but do not cling to anything and just put it down, it is contradictory to think that you are meditating on emptiness. If you think that wherever you think, all thoughts will bind you to samsara, so stopping the non-thinking of stillness is the path to liberation, then this has been refuted many times before. If that is the case, then there will be no fault to be blamed on the Hwa Shang's system. In the last stage of the Meditation Sequence, it says: 'Some sentient beings experience the fruits of heaven and so on due to the good and non-good deeds created by the mind's thoughts, and revolve in samsara. Those who do not think anything and do not do anything will be completely liberated from samsara. Therefore, do not think anything, and do not practice good deeds such as giving. Practicing giving and other good deeds is only shown to guide foolish people.' If you think like this and say like this, then you have abandoned all the Mahayana. Because the root of all vehicles is the Mahayana, abandoning the Mahayana is equivalent to abandoning all vehicles. Saying 'do not think anything' like this means abandoning the wisdom of the characteristic of correct discernment. Because the root of correct wisdom is correct discernment, abandoning it is equivalent to cutting off the root, thereby abandoning the wisdom beyond the world. Saying 'do not practice giving and other good deeds' also means abandoning giving and other extremely skillful means. In short, like this, wisdom and means are the Mahayana. As it is said in the Holy Gaya Gaurī: 'The path of the Bodhisattvas, in short, is two, what are the two? Like this, means and wisdom.' The Holy Tathagata Secret also said: 'These two, means and wisdom, will encompass all the paths of the Bodhisattvas.'
