Furthermore, in dependence on that, the result and the cause, both can be determined as either being of the same nature or of different natures. Among these, the arising of cause and effect being of the same nature is self-arising; the arising of different natures is other-arising. Therefore, regarding these, it is also certain that there are two: arising from each of self and other individually, and arising from the collection of self and other. Among the individual ones, there are self-arising and other-arising, so the way to eliminate other extremes by merely refuting the extreme of fourfold arising is thus. If a sprout arises from its own nature, then arising becomes meaningless, because arising is for the sake of obtaining the nature of where it is to arise, and the sprout has already obtained its own nature. For example, like a clearly manifest sprout. Arising would also become endless, because if a seed that has already arisen arises again, then that seed must arise again and again. If that is the case, then just the seed continuously arising would lead to the fault of sprouts and so on not having the opportunity to arise. It is also said in the twentieth chapter: If cause and effect are one, then the producer and the produced become one. It is also said in the Entering: If it arises from that, then there is no benefit at all, it is not reasonable for what has already arisen to arise again. If one were to completely conceive that what has already arisen arises again, then therefore the arising of sprouts and so on will not be found here. It also says: Therefore, to say that things arise from their own nature is a perversion, it is not reasonable in that and also in the world. If one thinks that because the sutra says that the result arises from four conditions that have become different, therefore it arises from other. If the result arises from a cause of different nature, then thick darkness would also arise from the flame of fire, because it is different. Moreover, everything, whether it has become a cause or not, would produce a result, whether it is a result or not, everything would arise, because otherness is the same. The meaning here is: If one accepts that a sprout has a nature established by its own essence, then the earth-born sprout, from fire and so on, which cannot be its own cause of arising, in the manner of its own entity, has become a way of transforming into a different nature, and from its own cause, the earth-born seed, has become a way of transforming into a different nature.

The two ways of going seem the same in every way. If so, since it cannot be a cause of production, when the appearance of different natures arises, just as it appears from an independent pillar, when difference appears from one's own rice seed, the different part also appears in the same way. If the way of appearing as different is the nature established by their own essence, then the difference between not arising from fire and arising from rice seed cannot be distinguished in any way. If the difference between arising and not arising is distinguished, then please also distinguish the different ways of different natures, which is to reveal contradictions. As it is said in the commentary on the Introduction: Just as the rice seed that can produce is different from its fruit, the rice sprout, so are fire, charcoal, barley seeds, etc., which cannot produce, also different. Also, just as the rice sprout arises from the rice seed that has been transformed into something else, so will fire, charcoal, barley seeds, etc., also transform. Also, just as the rice sprout arises from the rice seed that has been transformed into something else, if pots and blankets, etc., also transform, that is not seen, therefore it does not exist. As it is clearly stated. Wanting to prove pervasion with the force of the same reversal is not the view of the teacher. Moreover, its harm has already been discussed in the context of refuting that the existence of fire cannot be pervaded by the existence of fire on top of many. The twentieth chapter also says: If the cause and effect are different, then the cause and non-cause become the same. The Introduction also says: If another arises depending on another, then thick darkness will also arise from the flame, and everything will arise from everything, because those who cannot produce are the same as all others. As it is said. For such a fault, it cannot be answered by whether or not it belongs to the same continuum, etc., because if it is a different entity with a different nature, then it cannot be established as belonging to the same continuum, which is the same as before. Seeing the certainty of arising and not arising is also an answer.
