Therefore, if one thinks it necessary to examine from which of the four possibilities—self, other, etc.—arising occurs, then if one wants a truly existent arising, one must necessarily accept the examination of any of the four possibilities. If one merely thinks that this is an arising that occurs based on cause and condition, then one has not accepted that sole arising. Because one has not accepted that sole arising, how can one examine from which of self, other, etc., it arises using the reasoning that examines that sole arising? Because it is not necessary to think that it can be examined by reasoning. Furthermore, merely relying on arising itself prevents the four possibilities of arising, as it says in the Engaging in the Bodhisattva Deeds: Because things arise dependently, these discriminations cannot be examined. Therefore, this reasoning of dependent arising cuts through all nets of bad views. Because it is said so. Therefore, Chandrakirti considers dependent arising as a method to prevent the four possibilities of arising, but you think that if it does not arise from any of the four possibilities, then even arising does not exist. Therefore, it seems to be saying the opposite of what Chandrakirti thinks. Also, that same text says: Because things do not arise from no cause and Ishvara, cause etc., and both self and other, therefore they arise dependently. If you also think like that, then it becomes saying contradictory words. Therefore, dependent arising that arises dependently is separate from the four extremes, so do not ask which of the four extremes is separate from the extremes. These are also mistakes made because one has not distinguished the difference between unarisen by nature and unarisen. Then, that same text says: In that context, by what kind of reasoning is it not reasonable for arising from self and other? If that reasoning is not reasonable even in conventional terms? This refers to the fact that if one accepts arising that is established as substantial or established by its own characteristic, then in conventional terms as well, it shows that it is prevented by those reasonings, but it is definitely not preventing merely arising, because in the connection of that text it says: If one says that the nature of anything substantial that becomes the cause of all afflictions and purification needs to arise, then even if one says that, for the one who says that, only a little bit of words will remain. Why? Because it quoted "in that text" etc., and also in the commentary of that text it says: Therefore, arising by its own characteristic is true.

Neither exists in either way. Therefore, even if unwilling, it should be admitted. Because it was said that way. Therefore, birth established by its own nature is ultimate birth. If you admit this, you can admit it in name, but you must refute it as you would refute ultimate birth. This is the noble view of this teacher. Therefore, even in name, one should not admit birth established by its own nature. As it says in the Engaging in the Bodhisattva Deeds: 'Like a barren woman's son, there is no self-nature in him, nor is he in the world. Likewise, the nature of all things, by its own nature in the world, that nature is not born.' Because it was said that way. Grasping that not born by nature or having no nature of birth pervades no birth, and arguing that dependent arising and not born by nature are contradictory, is called having no ears and no heart. It means that because the 'nature' in 'not born by nature' was not heard, it was clung to as 'not born.' Because the meaning of the word 'nature' was not understood, it is called having no heart. Similarly, in the commentary on the Sixty Stanzas of Reasoning, 'What is born dependently is unborn, the supreme knower said that very thing,' it says: 'If you see dependent arising, then phenomena do not appear as their own nature. Why? Because whatever is born dependently is like an image, without its own nature. If whatever is born dependently is only born, how can it be spoken of with the word unborn? If you say unborn, then you should not say born dependently. Therefore, because they contradict each other, this is not reasonable.' If you make this objection, the answer is: 'Alas! Even those without ears and hearts can argue, this is truly a difficult matter for us.' Why? Because when we say that whatever is born dependently is like an image, without its own nature, what opportunity does he have to argue? Therefore, it is important to distinguish these differences. In the Questions of Undefiled Wisdom it also says: 'Whatever is born from conditions is said to be unborn, it has no nature of birth, whatever depends on conditions is said to be empty, what
