After making a commitment, the Madhyamikas themselves establish the view of non-reality through the statement of establishing arguments for external opponents, using valid reasons. Even so, they do not become Svatantrikas because they establish it through the unexamined worldly convention of valid cognition, so it is explained. Second, there are four points to refute it, the first is to refute the first view: The explanation of the Entering Treatise, the reason that the sign and pervasion as reasons are not established by valid cognition, the reason that the sign is not established by valid cognition is unreasonable. Like this, for the view that both the sign proponent and the external proponent need to be established by valid cognition, if the former proponent does not know that it is established for the external proponent, then it is not considered a sign, therefore that reason cannot establish that the external proponent needs to be established by valid cognition, and because one does not know the mind of the external proponent, if it is established that one does not know that it is established for others by valid cognition, then because one does not know that others have committed to that view, refuting the other party's commitment, etc., is also unreasonable, because even if one clearly knows that the other party says, "I think like this," one cannot be sure whether they commit as they said, and because one does not know the mind of others. The reason that pervasion is not established by valid cognition is also unreasonable, when establishing the pervasion that where there is smoke, there must be fire on a forest, the basis to be understood is the forest, and the meaning to be understood on it is only the pervasion that where there is smoke, there must be fire, it is definitely not to think that the smoke of the forest is pervaded by the fire of the forest, where would one grasp the pervasion that is certain in place, time, and direction? If it is not like that, then such a pervasion cannot be the basis of certainty in the forest, therefore it is necessary to indicate the basis that needs to be certain on this basis. For example, the property to be established, impermanence, which needs to be certain on sound, needs to follow both sound and pot, it cannot be established as the impermanence that is part of sound. Through that reasoning, it should also be known that it is unreasonable to think that the inference that establishes pervasion is also not valid cognition. Like this, because it is not established by valid cognition, the statement that the debater and the external proponent can be established merely through commitment is also unreasonable, if one uses commitment alone as a reason, then one cannot refute the other party, because his commitment is

That reason is established because valid cognition does not exist for either oneself or others. However, if one distinguishes between commitments, saying that this way it is established and that way it is not, if one distinguishes based on the reason for the commitment, then it is the same as what is to be proven. If one distinguishes based on the existence or non-existence of valid cognition, then the view of admitting the absence of valid cognition is ruined. Refuting the second view: When examining suchness, not accepting the commitment of emptiness of inherent existence, which is considered to mean not establishing a Svātantrika commitment, is it because the reasoning that examines the existence or non-existence of inherent existence does not establish that commitment, so that commitment is not accepted? Or is it because it is the time of examining suchness, so it is taken as a reason for not accepting the commitment? If it is the former, if the meaning of committing to emptiness of inherent existence is not established by reasoning, then the meaning of committing to the existence of inherent existence will also not be refuted by reasoning, because the reason is the same. If one thinks that even the meaning of committing to the existence of inherent existence cannot be refuted when examining suchness, that is very unreasonable, because the previous logicians said that analyzing is to refute other systems, and knowledge that has not been analyzed cannot refute other systems. Otherwise, why would one specifically say that one does not accept one's own system's commitment? Because one also does not accept consequences that refute other systems. If one makes consequences that refute other systems, then refuting the existence of inherent existence itself is establishing the emptiness of inherent existence, as stated in the root text and commentary of the Refutation of Objections, so there is no threefold fault. If it is not like that, and one says conversely that emptiness of inherent existence is established, but the existence of inherent existence is not refuted, what is the answer? If one completely cuts off emptiness of inherent existence, then one must undoubtedly cut off the existence of inherent existence, if one thinks so, then similarly, if one cuts off the existence of inherent existence, one must undoubtedly completely cut off emptiness of inherent existence. If it is because it is the time of examining suchness, so one should not commit to emptiness of inherent existence, etc., if one thinks so, then please state that reason further. If it is established at the time of examining suchness, then, the reason
