Who says? If it doesn't exist, then for what reason would Bodhisattvas cultivate the path of the perfections? It is for the sake of realizing the nature of reality that Bodhisattvas exert themselves with such diligence. This is proven with the scriptural authority and its basis. Now, haven't we previously refuted the inherent existence of all phenomena? Regarding phenomena that are not established by internal consciousness, haven't we repeatedly answered that there isn't even a particle of inherent existence established by its own entity? Therefore, what need is there to mention other phenomena regarding such a nature? Even the ultimate truth of reality has no establishment whatsoever. The Clear Words states: That which, in all three times, is not mistaken for fire, the unaltered original nature, that which is not something that arises later from something that did not previously exist, that which is not dependent on causes and conditions like the heat of water, this shore and that shore, or long and short, that is said to be inherent nature. Does the inherent entity of fire have such a state? If it does, then it is neither existent by its own entity nor non-existent. Although it is so, in order to dispel the fear of the listeners, it is nominally established, and in conventional truth, it is said to exist. Thus, inherent nature is also denied as being established by its own entity, and it is said to exist nominally. If it is thought that because it is said to be nominally established to dispel the fear of the listeners, it is not considered to exist, that is not reasonable. Because other phenomena are also nominally established for that purpose, those would also become non-existent. As quoted above, if that meaning does not exist, there would be the fault of celibacy becoming meaningless, which has already been stated. The commentary on Entering the Middle Way also states: This inherent nature is not only accepted by the teacher, but also because it can make others accept this meaning, this inherent nature is also established as being established in both (one's own and others' tenets). Otherwise, one would have to believe that it is impossible to attain liberation in the Madhyamaka system. Because attaining Nirvana is the direct realization of Nirvana, and Nirvana is also said to be the truth of cessation, and that is also the ultimate truth, the ultimate

Because there is no truth of arising. At the time of attaining Nirvana, it is necessary to directly realize the truth of cessation, which is the ultimate truth. This is proven with much effort in the commentary on the "Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning." Thus, these conditioned phenomena such as the eye are not established as self-nature established by their own essence, nor are they established as the self-nature established on the Dharma-nature. Therefore, they are not established in any self-nature. Although the ultimate truth is established on that which is established as self-nature on the Dharma-nature, on that self-nature, the non-artificial and non-dependent on others as the establisher do not exist even slightly in the self-nature established by its own essence. Therefore, it is only established in name. Artificial means the action of newly arising from non-existence, and dependent on others means dependent on causes and conditions. Since forms and so on are not established in either of the two self-natures, it is said that celibacy will not become meaningless by meditating on the path in order to see that self-nature which is made into self-nature on the Dharma-nature. It is explained that there is no contradiction between not admitting the self-nature established by its own essence in all phenomena and suddenly admitting self-nature. In the commentary on the "Entering the Middle Way," it says: Alas, Mama, you do not admit even a little thing, but suddenly you admit the self-nature that is non-artificial and not dependent on others. You are speaking of contradictory meanings! It can be said that you do not understand the intention of the treatise. The intention here is: If the self-nature of phenomena such as the eye is the dependent arising grasped by each individual ordinary being, then because the self-nature can be understood even by being inverted, celibacy would become meaningless. Because this is not the self-nature, celibacy becomes meaningful in order to see it. I also speak of non-artificial and non-dependent on others in relation to the conventional truth. That which is not to be seen by ordinary beings is reasonably the self-nature, and just that much, the ultimate truth is neither existent nor non-existent, because it is the very nature of peace. Thus it was said. Here, the existence or non-existence of things is
