According to this, conditioned phenomena are produced by causes and conditions and undergo change, which has already been proven by their own schools. Therefore, for these phenomena, there is no need to prove that they are without inherent existence, and they will also realize that all phenomena are without inherent existence, and so on. So, how could this be a common and uncommon object of refutation? If it were established as inherently existent, it would have to be independent of causes and conditions and would not change, and so on. Although there are many such statements in the Madhyamaka treatises, these are criticisms from the perspective of pervasiveness, not identifications from the perspective of the object of refutation itself. Furthermore, even if it were established in the ultimate truth, truly established, or established in truth, it would have to be unproduced by causes and conditions, and so on. However, these are not the meanings of being established in the ultimate truth, and so on. For example, although a pot is pervaded by impermanence, impermanence cannot be the meaning of the pot, but must be established as the meaning of a swollen belly. Similarly, if it were established in the ultimate truth, and so on, it would have to become an indivisible entity. However, the indivisible entity is not considered here as the fundamental object of refutation. Because this is merely posited by the proponents of various philosophical systems with uncommon clinging, and this clinging is not the root that binds sentient beings to samsara. Even if one ascertains that these phenomena are without inherent existence and meditates on them, it will not harm the clinging of beginningless ignorance in the slightest. Even if one ultimately realizes the meaning of these phenomena directly, it will not cause the innate afflictions to cease. Therefore, when ascertaining with view, it is essential to focus on ascertaining how innate ignorance grasps at meaning, rather than focusing on refuting the objects of conceptual imputation that arise along with innate ignorance as its branch. If one does not understand this, and abandons refuting the way innate ignorance grasps, and when refuting the self of a person, refutes the self that is permanent, single, and independent, and when refuting the self of phenomena, refutes the indivisible particles of the object of apprehension, the indivisible moments of the subject of apprehension, and the three characteristics of inherent existence, and so on, which are merely posited by the proponents of philosophical systems, it is completely unacceptable. If it is not like this, then when ascertaining with view, one only ascertains these things and does not ascertain deeper levels, therefore meditat

Therefore, even at the time of death, one must meditate in this way. Because establishing through view is for the sake of meditation. Therefore, even the ultimate result of meditating, realizing, and becoming accustomed to it is only that much. In this way, seeing the absence of the two selves that are merely imputed by the clinging of complete imputation, it is too extreme to want to reverse the co-emergent afflictions. The Entering says: "When one realizes selflessness, one abandons the permanent self. This is not even desired as a basis for ego-grasping. Therefore, it is very strange to say that knowing selflessness completely uproots the view of self." The commentary also says: "To clarify this meaning, which is unrelated to each other, through an example, it is said: 'Seeing a snake's nest in the cracks of one's own house wall, dispelling the doubt that there is no elephant here, wanting to remove the fear of the snake, alas, one becomes a servant of others.'" Although this is said about the selflessness of persons, it is also similar for the selflessness of phenomena. It can be applied like this: "When one realizes selflessness, one abandons the imputed self. This is not even desired as a basis for ignorance. Therefore, it is very strange to say that knowing selflessness completely uproots ignorance." Then, according to what the teacher said earlier, is the nature of uncreated and non-dependent self-nature spoken from the perspective of grasping at extremes, or is there such a self-nature? This is because the so-called "dharmata of all dharmas" is established as self-nature, which is uncreated and does not depend on others. That exists. The commentary on the Entering says: "If someone asks, does the teacher acknowledge the existence of such a special self-nature? Then, based on what, did the Bhagavan say that whether the Tathagatas appear or not, the dharmata of all dharmas remains?" In short, the so-called dharmata exists. What is this so-called dharmata? It is the self-nature of the eye and other dharmas. What is their self-nature? It is their uncreatedness and non-dependence on others, that is, the self-nature that can be realized by wisdom free from the darkness of ignorance. So, does it exist or not?
