This shows the unreasonableness. Firstly, most of those who now want to expound the meaning of the Madhyamaka say that with the reasoning that examines whether or not arising and so on are established in the ultimate, all phenomena from form to omniscience are negated, because no matter what is asserted, if it is analyzed with reasoning, there is not even a particle that can withstand scrutiny, and because all four possibilities of existence and non-existence, etc., have been refuted, there is no phenomenon that is not included in them. Furthermore, the wisdom of the noble ones who see the ultimate sees that there is nothing such as arising and ceasing and bondage and liberation, so it must be as measured by it, therefore there is no arising and so on. If it is asserted that there is arising and so on, then when analyzing it with the reasoning that examines it, can it withstand scrutiny or not? If it can withstand scrutiny, then because there is a thing that can withstand reasoning scrutiny, it will become truly existent. If it cannot withstand scrutiny, then how can the meaning that is negated by reasoning be justified? Similarly, if it is asserted that arising and so on exist, then is it established by valid cognition or not? If it is like the first case, the wisdom that sees the ultimate sees that there is no arising, so it cannot be established by it. If it is asserted that it is established by the conventional eye consciousness and so on, then because it has been refuted that those are valid cognitions, those cannot be valid cognitions that establish it. As it says in the Samadhiraja Sutra: "The eye and ear and nose are not valid cognitions, the tongue and body and mind are not valid cognitions, if these faculties are valid cognitions, then what is the holy path for?" And as it says in the Entering the Middle Way: "All the world is not valid cognition." Because it is said like that. If it is asserted that it exists even though it is not established by valid cognition, then one's self does not accept it and reasoning does not allow it, so it is unreasonable. If arising is accepted, but it is not considered to be ultimately true, so it must be considered to be conventionally true. This is not reasonable, as it says in the Entering the Middle Way: "If at that time, with what reasoning is it unreasonable to observe arising from self and other, then with that reasoning, it is also unreasonable to observe arising from self and other in the conventional, how can your arising be obtained?" Because the reasoning that refutes arising in the ultimate also refutes arising in the conventional. Furthermore, if it is asserted that it does not arise from any of the four, self, other, etc., but there is arising, then when refuting arising in the ultimate, by examining and refuting the four possibilities, it will not be negated, because there is arising that does not belong to those.

It is for this reason. If it arises from any of the four possibilities, one does not desire the other three. If it must arise from another, that is unreasonable. As it is said in the "Entering the Middle Way": "There is no arising from another even in the world." Therefore, in refuting arising, one should not add the distinction of ultimate truth, because the "Clear Words" prohibits adding the distinction of ultimate truth. Regarding this, some say that arising and so on are not accepted even conventionally, while others think that they exist conventionally. Everyone thinks this way: that refuting the inherent existence of phenomena by reason is undeniable in this teacher's system, because the inherent existence in both truths is refuted. If there is no inherent existence in this way, then what is there after that? Therefore, adding the distinction of ultimate truth to the object of negation is only the system of the Svatantrika Madhyamikas, they clear their throats and explain. Second, showing that it is unreasonable has two parts: showing that that system prevents the uncommon characteristics of Madhyamika, and showing that the stated harms do not refute it. The first has three parts: identifying the characteristics of the Madhyamika, how that system prevents it, and how the Madhyamika responds to it. The first is: As it is said in the "Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning": "By this virtue, may all beings accumulate the collections of merit and wisdom, and may they attain the two supreme bodies arising from merit and wisdom." As it is said, the trainees of the supreme vehicle attain the two supreme bodies, the Dharmakaya and the Rupakaya, at the time of fruition, which depends on accumulating immeasurable collections of merit and wisdom, inseparable from skillful means and wisdom, as previously explained in the stage of the path. Moreover, regarding conventional cause and effect, one must rely on having certainty about the cause-and-effect relationship of this cause producing this and that result of benefit and harm, and having certainty from the depths of one's heart, and having certainty from the depths of one's heart that there is not even a particle of inherent existence in all phenomena. Because without these two, one will not sincerely learn the complete path of both skillful means and wisdom. Thus, at the time of fruition,
