So, what kind of object is it necessary to be angry at? Some explain that it is necessary to be angry at a Bodhisattva, while others consider it to be at ordinary beings in general. The former is as stated in the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra: "Why, with anger towards the sons of the Victorious Ones, does one destroy in an instant the merit accumulated for hundreds of eons from giving and ethical conduct?" This seems to be in accordance. The basis for generating anger is: Even anger towards a Bodhisattva destroys the roots of virtue, let alone someone who is not a Bodhisattva, as stated in the commentary on the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra. Whether the object is definitely a Bodhisattva or not, and whether the fault seen in the reason for anger is true or false, are said to be the same for destroying virtue as mentioned earlier. In general, destroying the root of virtue does not require anger towards a Bodhisattva, as stated in the Śikṣāsamuccaya: "In the scriptures of the Sarvāstivāda school, it is also said: 'Monks, when a monk prostrates to a stupa of hair and nails with all his limbs, look at the mind and the interval.' Venerable one, it is so. 'Monks, as many grains of sand as there are from the ground this person treads on down to eighty-four thousand yojanas until reaching the golden wheels, this monk will enjoy that many thousands of times the kingdom of a universal monarch.' From there, the venerable Ānanda, with palms joined respectfully, said to the Blessed One: 'Blessed One, if the Blessed One says that the root of virtue of a monk is so great, then, Blessed One, where will these roots of virtue be exhausted, diminished, completely purified, and completely disappeared?' Ānanda, I have not seen anything like causing harm and defamation to those who practice pure conduct. Ānanda, this will diminish, completely purify, and completely disappear these great roots of virtue. Ānanda, therefore, even towards those who are contrary, do not harm them with your mind, let alone the body with consciousness, what need is there to say? ' Thus quoted." And so on. The meaning of destroying the root of virtue is: destroying the ability of previous virtues to quickly produce results, thereby delaying the production of results, and instead first producing the results of anger and the like.

Now, if conditions are met, it is not that each will not produce its own result. If worldly paths cannot abandon the seeds to be abandoned, then it is impossible for afflictions to abandon seeds. Some scholars say this. But this reason seems uncertain, because even though the purification of an ordinary being who has cultivated non-virtue with the four opponent powers is not the abandonment of seeds, it is impossible to produce fruition even if conditions are met now. And even though the virtuous and non-virtuous actions whose respective fruitions have been produced and exhausted are not the abandonment of seeds, it is impossible for that fruition to arise even if conditions are met in the future. And even though the seeds of non-virtue that cause wrong views and bad migrations are not abandoned when one attains the peak of the path of application and forbearance, it is impossible to give rise to wrong views and bad migrations even if conditions are met. Furthermore, as quoted earlier, "Which action is heavier in samsara?" As it says, whichever of the virtuous and non-virtuous actions matures first, it will temporarily prevent the opportunity for other actions to mature, but this does not mean that the virtuous or non-virtuous actions are destroyed, because it is not said so. Merely postponing the fruition temporarily cannot be considered destroying the root of virtue, otherwise it would have to be said that all powerful non-virtuous actions are destroyers of the root of virtue. Therefore, on this, the teacher Lekdenjey said that, as mentioned before, the two cases of cultivating non-virtue with the four powers and destroying the root of virtue with wrong views and harmful thoughts are like seeds that are damaged, and even if conditions are met, sprouts will not grow. Now, even if conditions are met, they cannot produce results. That is, just as it was said before, the sins accumulated are purified by the four opponent powers, but it does not hinder the slow generation of the upper path. Similarly, for some people, even if the results of generosity and discipline, such as wealth and the perfection of the body, are destroyed, the actions of generosity and renunciation are still easy to generate the roots of virtue of generosity and discipline due to the similar cause, which cannot be destroyed. For some people, destroying the continuous actions of similar causes, such as inner discipline, does not destroy the perfection of body and wealth. For some people
