If I change, who should I be angry at for the harm done to it? Furthermore, some cause harm out of ignorance, and some become angry out of ignorance. Who would be without fault in that case? Who is at fault? And so on. Examining one's own commitments: Even for those who have entered the path of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, who act only for their own benefit, it is not appropriate to be intolerant and angry. From the moment I generated the mind of enlightenment, I have vowed to accomplish the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings. What need is there to mention acting for the benefit of others, completely taking hold of all sentient beings? Thinking in this way, generate the perseverance of patience. Potowa also said: One should not offend the Buddha's teachings, If a slight harm occurs and one does not cultivate patience, one says: This person is destroying the teachings from the root. This is destroying. That person is abandoning the vows. The teachings are being destroyed from the root by that person. We do not have a common teaching. If one's own vows are lost, that is personal ruin. He also said: When the yak of Gabowa strikes with its tail, the Acharya strikes its leg with a stick. Letting go is like being released from the yoke, it is comfortable. Do not let go of the harmer, confronting him only makes one more and more unhappy. Second, it is reasonable to be loving: All sentient beings, from beginningless time, have not failed to be one's parents and friends in samsara, and they are impermanent, facing death, tormented by the three sufferings, and driven mad by the demons of afflictions, even destroying their own interests in this life and the next. I should generate love for them, how can I be angry and retaliate against them? One must think in this way from the depths of one's heart. Regarding the two ways to counteract intolerance towards being obstructed from receiving respect, etc., and the three actions of being insulted, etc.: Among them, regarding the three ways to counteract intolerance towards being obstructed from receiving praise, etc.: Thinking that praise, etc., has no merit, thinking that it has faults, therefore, one should be happy to prevent these. First, when others praise oneself and one's reputation increases, there is no benefit for longevity and health, etc., in this life, nor for obtaining merit, etc., in future lives. Therefore, not being happy when these decline is like small children crying when a sandcastle collapses. There is no difference between me and them, think in this way.

Therefore, do not be attached to being degraded. Serving praise and fame will not turn into merit, will not turn into thorns, will not turn into one's own strength, is not without disease, and will not make the body comfortable. If I understand my own benefit, then what is the benefit in that? Just like when a sandcastle collapses, the children will cry sadly. Similarly, when praise and fame decline, one's own mind is like a child. This is the second point: One should think that praise and so on will distract the mind from non-essentials, will destroy contentment, will arouse jealousy towards those with merit, and will cause virtuous deeds to decline, thereby generating aversion to them. Praise and so on will distract me, they will also destroy contentment, generate jealousy towards those with merit, and will also destroy perfection. This is the third point: In this way, destroying my praise, fame, and gain and respect is like guarding me from falling into the lower realms, cutting the bonds of attachment, blocking the door for me to enter suffering, just like the blessings of the Buddha. Therefore, one should suppress anger from the depths of one's heart and generate joy. Therefore, those who exist to destroy my praise and so on, are they not here to protect me from falling into the lower realms? I seek liberation and do not need the bonds of gain and respect. How can I be angry with those who liberate my bonds? I want to enter suffering, but they, like the blessings of the Buddha, do not let me go and have become the latch, how can I be angry with them? Second, for those who commit the three acts of contempt and so on, one must suppress the heart of not enduring. The mind is not a tangible thing, so in reality it cannot be harmed by others. If the body is actually harmed, and then the mind is indirectly harmed through the body, then contempt and so on cannot even harm the body, so there is no harm to both body and mind, so one should be happy, thereby suppressing displeasure. If displeasure is suppressed, anger will not arise. Just like this: The mind is not a tangible thing, so no one can destroy it anywhere. Because there is a strong attachment to the body, the body will be harmed by suffering. Contempt and harsh words
