The discipline of restraining distractions, and because of the multitude of evil deeds of sentient beings and their proneness to occur, therefore, as an antidote to turning back from that, is the powerful habituation to patience, and the increase through accomplishing many virtuous deeds and for a long time, through thinking about those benefits etc., the diligence of generating strong and long-lasting joy, and the meditation to subdue afflictions, and the wisdom needed to destroy its seeds and the obscurations to knowledge, by explaining these, it gives great certainty to the six perfections. The numerical determination in relation to the three trainings is: the nature of the training of discipline is discipline, and also if there is giving that does not consider enjoyment, then it is properly received, therefore that is the collection of discipline. Having properly received it, it is also protected by patience such as not retaliating when scolded, therefore that is its retinue. Meditation is the training of the mind, and wisdom is the training of wisdom. Diligence belongs to all three trainings, therefore it is determined as the six perfections, because having mastered the three trainings, the Buddhas have truly taught the six perfections, the first three, the last two have two aspects, one also belongs to all three. Thus, what kind of perfect basis accomplishes all the benefits of oneself and others, abiding in which vehicle, possessing how many kinds of methods, accomplishing and gathering the basis, meaning, Mahayana, methods, and trainings of what is to be practiced, know that it is the six perfections, and until great certainty is not obtained about being the summary of all the key points of the practice of a Bodhisattva, one should contemplate. Furthermore, the causes for not transcending or not surpassing samsara from the beginning are two: attachment to enjoyment and attachment to family. Their antidotes are giving and discipline. Even if one has surpassed once, the causes for not ultimately achieving and regressing are two: being tormented by the wrongdoings of sentient beings, and being completely weary from practicing virtue for a long time. Their antidotes are patience and diligence, that is, not caring about suffering and harm, and knowing the ways of cultivating joy etc. that even immeasurable time is seen as a single day.

If one trains from many doors, it is very important to generate patience and diligence that can counteract the causes of reversal. Not only that, but for the conduct of a Bodhisattva, even in the present practice, because of small endurance, it is difficult to endure small austerities, and because of insufficient interest in the path being cultivated, many people enter at the beginning, but few ultimately do not regress. This is because one has not trained in the key points of patience and diligence. Even if one does not regress, there will be cases of waste, for two reasons: the mind does not focus on the object of virtue and is distracted, and wisdom is improper. The remedies for these are meditation and wisdom. If the mind is distracted to other things, even recitation etc. are said to be meaningless. If one does not increase the understanding of the meaning of the inner science (Tibetan: ནང་རིག་པ།), even for the coarse places of acceptance and rejection, one will be confused, leading to wrong conduct. This is the determination of number made from the perspective of abandoning the unfavorable side. The determination of the number of the basis for accomplishing all the Buddha's teachings is: the first four perfections become a collection of samadhi, so through these four, one can accomplish the perfection of meditation without distraction. If one cultivates vipassanā based on this, one will realize that very nature. The determination of number made from the perspective of maturing sentient beings and conforming to sentient beings is the same as the third one mentioned earlier. This is the view of the noble Asaṅga, as written by the teacher Siṃhabhadra, and it seems very important for generating certainty about the six perfections. Second, regarding the incidental determination of order, there are three: The order of arising is: if one has giving without looking at enjoyment and without attachment, one will take vows. If one has vows that well restrain misconduct, one will be able to endure harm. If one has patience that does not tire of austerities, one can reduce adverse conditions and thus be able to initiate diligence. If one practices diligence day and night, one will generate samadhi that is capable of being used for the object of virtue. If the mind is placed equally, one will realize things as they are. The order of inferior and superior is: the former is inferior to the latter. The order of coarse and subtle is: the former is coarser than the latter.

The ones that are easy to enter and easy to do are coarse, and the later ones are more difficult to enter and do than the earlier ones, so they are more subtle than their respective predecessors. As it says in the Ornament of the Sutras: "The latter arises dependent on the former, because they are in inferior and superior states, and because of coarseness and subtlety, these are taught in order." So it is. Third, there are two stages of learning it: learning the general way of practice, and especially learning the last two perfections. The first has two: the perfections that ripen one's own Buddha-dharma, and the four ways of gathering that ripen the minds of others. The first has six: the ways of learning generosity, ethics, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom. The first has four: the nature of generosity, the means of engaging in generating it, the detailed divisions of generosity, and the collection of their meanings. The first is: As it says in the Bodhisattva Ground: "What is the nature of generosity? It is the mind of a bodhisattva that is born together with non-attachment, not looking at all resources and one's own body, and the actions of body and speech that completely give away the objects to be given, which are aroused by that." As it is said, the virtuous mind of giving and the actions of body and speech aroused by it. The completion of the perfection of generosity does not depend on giving away the objects of giving to others and abandoning the poverty of beings. If that were the case, there would still be many poor beings, so the generosity of the Buddhas of the past would not have reached the end. Therefore, body and speech are not important, but mind is the most important. In this way, having destroyed the attachment of miserliness to one's own body, possessions, and all roots of virtue, one gives to others from the bottom of one's heart, and not only that, but also the habit of dedicating the fruits of giving to sentient beings is completely perfected, and from that comes the perfection of generosity. As it says in the Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life: "If the perfection of generosity were the elimination of the poverty of beings, then since there are still poor beings, how did the protectors of the past achieve the perfection of generosity? The perfection of generosity is said to be the mind of giving away all possessions, together with their fruits, to all beings, so it is only the mind." So it is. Therefore, the perfection of generosity
