If a strong intention is generated first, and when abiding in the Samadhi of emptiness, although the Bodhicitta is not actually present, it is not contradictory to include it in the calculation. Therefore, this is called giving without an object of focus. If there is absolutely no intention to give, then giving is not possible. Similarly, the rest should also be understood. The way of not being separated from skillful means and wisdom should also be understood in the same way. One should also not be confused about the fruits of the accumulation of merit, such as the body, enjoyment, and longevity of Samsara. If one lacks skillful means and wisdom, then it is indeed so. But if one possesses these, then it is very suitable to become the cause of liberation and omniscience. As it is said in the Ratnavali: "The Form Body, in brief, arises from the accumulation of merit of the King." As it is said, the scriptures are limitless. Furthermore, you sometimes say that all misdeeds and afflictions that lead to bad destinies can be transformed into the cause of Buddhahood, and sometimes you say that meritorious deeds such as giving and morality, which become the cause of higher realms, are also the cause of Samsara and will not become the cause of Bodhi. Therefore, calm down and speak. Also, in the Sutra it says: "Attachment to the six perfections, such as giving, is the work of Mara." And in the Third Skandha Sutra it says: "Having fallen into an object of focus, giving alms, and guarding morality with pride, etc., I confess all of these individually." And in the Brahma's Request Sutra it says: "All discriminations are discriminations, and complete non-discrimination is Bodhi." One should also not be confused about these. The first meaning is that impure giving, etc., which are caused by inverted attachment to the two selves, are said to be the work of Mara, but it is not saying that giving, etc., are the work of Mara. Otherwise, since all six are mentioned, then meditation and wisdom should also be considered the work of Mara. The meaning of the second scripture is also that it is said that way for the impure, which is caused by inverted attachment, but it is not saying not to rely on giving, etc. If it were not so, then "having fallen into an object of focus, giving alms" means that it is not necessary to fall into an object of focus, but generally confessing giving alms. As it is said.

Because I have not said so from reason. The way of answering from the last part of the Stages of Meditation is very important, because if this is understood in a perverse way, all ways of acting will become clinging to the self of the person or dharma, and will be considered as having characteristics. If the mind of giving that thinks "I will give up this thing," and the mind of restraint that thinks "I will restrain this misdeed," and all such virtuous thoughts, are clinging to the self of dharma, holding to the three circles, then those who have found the view of the selflessness of dharma should negate them in all ways, like anger and pride, and should not intentionally do and rely on them. If all thoughts of "this is this" are made into clinging to the self of dharma, thinking of the three circles, then thinking of the qualities of the spiritual friend, and leisure and endowment, and death, and the suffering of bad migrations, and taking refuge, and this result arising from this action, and love and compassion, and cultivating the mind of enlightenment, and cultivating all the trainings of the engaging mind, it is absolutely necessary to straighten out the conviction by thinking, "This is this, this arises from this, this has this quality and fault." Therefore, the greater the conviction in these, the more the clinging to the self of dharma increases. Also, the more the conviction in the selflessness of dharma is cultivated, the smaller the conviction in those paths becomes. Thus, the two aspects of conduct and view go into contradiction like hot and cold, and there is no place to generate strong and lasting conviction in both. Therefore, just as in the state of the result, there is no contradiction between placing the Dharmakaya as something to be attained and making the Rupakaya something to be attained, so also in the time of the path, it is necessary to have a conviction in the freedom from elaboration that does not leave even a particle of the object of clinging to the characteristics of the two selves, and also to have a conviction that this arises from this and this has this fault and quality, these two are not contradictory. That also depends on how the view of the base, the two truths, is established. Therefore, it is necessary to establish the ultimate truth, by scripture and reason, that all phenomena of samsara and nirvana do not have even a particle of inherent existence in their own way of abiding or being, and to determine the cause and effect without confusing even a little of the phenomena of cause and effect.
