Guarded. As it is said in the scriptures, prostitutes occupied by others, having relations with relatives, and those who should not engage in sexual activity are all considered sexual misconduct. Occupied by others refers to the wives of others. Those with the banner of Dharma refer to ordained nuns. Those guarded by lineage refer to those who are unmarried and guarded by their own fathers and other relatives, or by parents-in-law, or by gatekeepers, or, if none of these are present, by themselves. Those guarded by the king or appointed officials refer to those for whom laws of punishment have been established. The scriptures say that prostitutes hired with payment are sexual misconduct, which indicates that paying for oneself is not sexual misconduct. The Great Lord (Atisha) also said the same. 'Man' applies to both oneself and others. Non-limb refers to limbs other than the vaginal opening. The teacher Ashvaghosa said, "What is a non-limb? The mouth and the anus, as well as masturbation with legs clasped." The Great Lord said that the so-called non-limb refers to the mouth and the anus, as well as the front and back orifices of boys and girls, and one's own hand, which is consistent with this. Non-place refers to places near teachers, such as lamas, as well as places of stupas, in front of many people, and uneven or hard places that are harmful to the area. The teacher Ashvaghosa said, "The so-called non-place refers to the holy Dharma, stupas, Buddha images, etc., as well as the residences of Bodhisattvas, etc., as well as the residences in front of Khenpos and teachers, as well as parents; one should not engage in sexual activity there." The Great Lord also said the same. Non-time refers to menstruation, full-term pregnant women, young children with milk secretion, those in retreat, those with illnesses that should not engage in sexual activity, and those who exceed the limit. The limit is five times. The teacher Ashvaghosa said, "The so-called non-time refers to menstruation and pregnant women, as well as young children and those who are unwilling, as well as suffering and discomfort, etc., as well as the eight-branch fasting period, all of which are non-time." The Great Lord also said the same, similar to this, but the difference is that daytime is also considered non-time. The three, non-limb, etc., if it becomes sexual misconduct even with one's own wife, what more to say about others? In terms of intention, there are three, namely, thought.

In the Compendium it is said that one must recognize "that is that" without confusion. In the Vinaya it is said that with regard to defeat in non-brahmacarya, it is the same whether the recognition is confused or not. In the commentary on the Treasury it is said that if one goes to another's wife with the recognition that "she is one's own," it does not become a path of action; if one engages with another's wife with the recognition that "she is not hers," then two ways of becoming or not becoming are explained. Affliction is any of the three poisons. Motivation is the desire to proceed by means of non-brahmacarya. As for the application, in the Compendium it is said that causing another to commit adultery also causes the one who engages in it to generate the fault of adultery. In the root commentary on the Treasury it is said that there is no actual path of action in such a case, and it is considered or examined whether the former is a non-actual offense. The ultimate is the union of two with two. The basis for speaking falsehood is the four: seeing, hearing, distinguishing, and knowing, and the four that are the opposite of these. The object to be understood is the other person's understanding of the meaning. Regarding the three thoughts, the recognition is: transforming what is seen into what is not seen, and transforming what is not seen into what is seen, and so on. The afflictions are three. The motivation is to change the recognition and want to speak. The application is: accepting by speaking or not speaking, or showing by signs of changing the body. It is said that it is the same whether it is spoken for one's own sake or for the sake of another. Here, it is said that entrusting falsehood, slander, and harsh words also becomes those three. In the root commentary on the Treasury, it is said that entrusting all four verbal actions becomes a path of action. In the Vinaya it is said that in order to generate the ultimate downfall of those, one must speak oneself. The ultimate is the other person's understanding; if the other person does not understand, then in the commentary on the Treasury it is said that it is just empty talk. This is also the same for slander and harsh words. The basis of slander is harmonious and disharmonious beings. Regarding the three thoughts, recognition and affliction are the same as before. The motivation is the desire to separate harmonious beings and the desire to not reconcile disharmonious beings. The application is speaking with any words, true or untrue, pleasant or unpleasant.
