Thus, it was said in brief. In this way, even for each type of discipline, it is not necessary to repeatedly rely on the mind of protection to guard it, but if one says, "I am a Mahayana practitioner," then it is extremely shameful. As it is said in the Sutra of the Earth Store, "These ten virtuous paths can lead to Buddhahood. If someone does not guard even a single virtuous deed throughout their life, but says, 'I am a Mahayana practitioner, I seek the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment,' then that person is extremely hypocritical, a great liar, deceiving the world in front of all the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, a nihilist, and will die in ignorance and fall into evil realms." Thus it is said. Falling into evil realms should be understood as a synonym for all evil destinies. Determining karma and its results has three aspects: the results of black karma, the results of white karma, and showing other classifications of karma. The first has three aspects: the actual path of black karma, the difference between heavy and light, and showing the results of these. The first is: What is killing? To this, it is said that it is summarized into five: basis, perception, intention, affliction, and finality. However, the middle three can be summarized into intention, and adding the application, it can be summarized into four: basis, intention, application, and finality. Explaining it in this way is easy to understand and does not contradict the meaning. Among them, the basis of killing is: sentient beings with life. Furthermore, if the killer kills himself, there is the sin of application, considering that there is no finality, therefore, in the Yogacarabhumi-sastra, it says: "Other living beings." Thus it is said. There are three intentions, among which there are four perceptions: regarding the basis as a sentient being, perceiving it as a sentient being; perceiving it as a non-sentient being; regarding a non-sentient being, perceiving it as a non-sentient being; and perceiving it as a sentient being. The first and third perceptions are not mistaken, and the second and fourth are mistaken. Regarding this, having a specific motivation, for example, thinking of killing only Devadatta, when starting the application, mistakenly killing an offering, then there is no sin of the actual deed, therefore, for this kind of situation, it is necessary to have an unconfused perception. During the application, thinking of killing whatever appears, then it belongs to the general motivation.

If there is a place, there is no need for undistracted consciousness. This method should be understood accordingly for the remaining nine as well. Affliction is any of the three poisons. Motivation is the desire to kill. Regarding the action, the actor is the one who does it himself or causes others to do it, either way is the same. The essence of the action is any action done through weapons, poison, or mantras, etc. The ultimate result is that due to that action, the other person dies at that time or at another time. Moreover, as it is said in the Treasury of Knowledge: "Dying simultaneously with the former, because another unreal body is born." This is the same here as well. The basis for taking what is not given is any property that is completely possessed by others. Regarding intention, among the three, consciousness and affliction are the same as before. The intention is to take away from the other even if it is not given. Regarding the action, the actor is the same as before, and the essence of the action is either robbing by force or stealing secretly. That is, deceiving loans and deposits, or taking what is not given by other deceptive means, and doing it for the benefit of oneself or others, or for the purpose of harming others, etc., is also taking what is not given. The ultimate result is, as stated in the Compendium: "Moved to another place." Thus it is said. Although there are many differences in this meaning, it merely represents the transfer of property from one place to another. For example, for fields and the like, even if there is no transfer from one place, the ultimate result must be established. Therefore, the thought of obtaining arises. That is, if one causes others to rob or steal, it is enough for that thought to arise. For example, even if one does not know, but commissions another to kill the other person, then whenever that person dies, and the one who commissioned the killing, the actual sin will arise. The basis of sexual misconduct is the four: that which should not be entered, non-limb, non-place, and non-time. The first of these is all women, men, and hermaphrodites who should not be sexually approached. The first of these is, as stated in the Compendium: "Mothers, etc., and those protected by mothers, etc., as stated in the sutras, are those who should not be sexually approached." Thus it is said. Regarding this meaning, the scholar Ashvaghosa says: "That which should not be entered means: possessed by others, possessing the banner of Dharma, protected by lineage and the king."
