Therefore, a strong mental transformation must be generated. The Blessed One, in order to understand the faults of suffering in samsara, spoke of the eight sufferings, and the noble Asanga has well established their intention, as it is explained. Potowa said that wherever one is born in the six realms, the arising of suffering such as sickness and death is that which is to be sick becomes sick, and that which is to die dies. This is not something inappropriate that suddenly happens, but the characteristic or nature of samsara. As long as one remains in samsara, one cannot transcend these. If we become weary of this, we must abandon rebirth. As he said, one must abandon its cause. Therefore, one should think in this way about the arising of suffering such as birth, old age, sickness, and death, which were mentioned earlier. Second, thinking about the six sufferings, the commentary on Maitreya's "Letter to a Friend" speaks of seven, the last of which is the individual faults, so here we will think about six. Among them, the fault of uncertainty is: in samsara, parents and other relatives become enemies in other lives, and enemies become relatives. Similarly, fathers become sons, sons become fathers, mothers become wives, wives become mothers, and so on, rotating in sequence, and that is all, so there is absolutely nothing to trust. As it says in "Letter to a Friend": The father is the son, the mother is the wife, those who were enemies become friends, because it is inverted, so there is no certainty in samsara. So it is said. Even in this life, enemies and friends transform into each other. As it says in the "Inquiry of Good Arms": For a time, enemies become friends, and friends likewise become enemies. Similarly, some become intermediaries, and intermediaries become enemies. Having understood that friends change in this way, the wise never become attached. The mental discriminations of being happy with relatives should be eliminated, and then abide in virtue, as you please. After meditating in this way, prevent the arising of attachment and hatred by distinguishing between enemies and friends, and observe that there is nothing to trust in the Dharma of samsara, thereby becoming weary. The fault of not knowing satisfaction is: each person has drunk more milk than the four great oceans, but still follows their respective beings, therefore even more...

Oh, how much more to drink! Thus, each sentient being should think about how much mother's milk they have drunk before, and how much more they will drink if they do not learn the path to liberation now. This is just a metaphor; one should contemplate the perfections and sufferings of samsara, that there is nothing that one has not experienced, and thus feel disgusted. Enjoying happiness is for the sake of satisfaction, but worldly happiness, no matter how much one enjoys it, will never be satisfied, but will only increase craving more and more. Therefore, one will wander in samsara for a long time, and those extremely unbearable sufferings that those happinesses cannot even slightly withstand will be experienced countless times! In the "Letter to a Friend," it says: Just as a leper afflicted by worms relies on fire for the sake of happiness, but it does not subside, know that attachment to desires is also like that. In the "Compendium of Perfections," it also says: Obtaining those desires, serving them like a single day, accumulating much but not being satisfied, what greater disease is there than that? In the "Admonition to Learning," it also says: Where is the place in samsara that one has not reached a hundred times? Where is the happiness that one has not experienced many times before? What wealth like the beauty of a peacock's feather has one not obtained? Even if there is, desire will increase. Is there no suffering that one has not experienced many times before? With what will beings be satisfied, those desires are not there. There is no sentient being that has not lain in filth, yet how can a samsaric being be without attachment? One should think like this! Furthermore, if one thinks as it is said in the "Elimination of Sorrow Sutra," one will become extremely disgusted: Again and again in hell, the molten copper that one has drunk, even the water in the ocean does not have its measure. When one becomes a dog and a pig, the impure things that one has eaten are more than Mount Meru, the king of mountains. Separated from friends, the tears that one has cried in samsara, the drops of tears, the ocean cannot contain them. Fighting each other, the heads that have been cut off, piled up so high, even surpass the Brahma world. Becoming a worm, extremely hungry, the excrement that one has eaten, in that great ocean of milk,
