One should contemplate all aspects of aging and develop renunciation for samsara, because all the perfections of samsara are ultimately consumed by decay. As it is said in the Vinaya Sutra: "All accumulations will eventually be exhausted, all heights will eventually fall, all meetings will eventually end in separation, and all lives will eventually end in death." The fault of having no friend is: Thus, one will err, may merit be wished for, may the light of the three lamps be well taken! Alone, one will enter the boundless darkness that the sun and moon cannot penetrate. This is what is said. Wishing to err means, please know that one must die as stated above. Wishing to receive the light of merit, that is the meaning. The three merits are the virtues of the three doors of body, speech, and mind, or the three bases such as those arising from generosity. The boundless darkness is the darkness of ignorance. Entering without a friend is, as it is said in the Bodhicharyavatara: "This body is born alone, and the flesh and bones born together will break and separate, each scattering. What need is there to mention other loved ones? At birth, one is born alone, and at death, one dies alone. If others cannot share the suffering, what use are friends who hinder?" As it is said. Thus, the six can be summarized into three: that there is no place to trust in samsara, that no matter how much one enjoys the pleasures of samsara, there is no end to satisfaction, and that one has been in samsara since beginningless time. The first point can be divided into four: obtaining a body is not trustworthy, because one abandons the body again and again. Doing good and evil is not trustworthy, because there is no certainty. Obtaining perfections is not trustworthy, because they rise and fall. Associating with others is not trustworthy, because one goes alone. The third point is: connecting the continuum again and again, that is, not seeing the end of lifetimes. Having summarized in this way, one should also contemplate. Third, meditating on the three sufferings: For example, when there is an eye disease or extreme heat, it feels comfortable to pour cool water on it, just like the feeling of happiness of sentient beings in samsara. However, this feeling will eventually produce suffering, so it is the suffering of change. Not only is this feeling itself, but also the other minds and mental factors that are associated with it, and arising from the object...

The contaminated realms of existence are also the suffering of change. Just as when one is tormented by a hot fruit, it is most painful when it comes into contact with transformative touches such as salt water. One should understand feeling as suffering, for from the moment of birth, it torments the body or mind, and is the suffering of suffering, like the stinging pain of the kidneys. This is not just feeling alone, as before. Like a hot fruit that has not come into contact with either of the two, it is contaminated neutral feeling, which is connected to bad destinations, and is the suffering of conditioning. This also should not be applied to feeling alone, as before. This is under the control of previous actions and afflictions, and is connected to the seeds that give rise to future suffering and afflictions, and therefore possesses the universally present bad destination. Thus, when a pleasant feeling arises, attachment increases; when a painful feeling arises, anger increases; and for a body that belongs to a bad destination that is neither pleasant nor painful, ignorance increases by clinging to impermanence as permanence, and so on. Of these, attachment causes the suffering of being born in the five realms in the future, and so on; hatred causes sorrow and so on in this life, and the suffering of bad destinies in the future; and ignorance participates in the suffering caused by both of these, without abandoning it. Therefore, one should view pleasant feeling as suffering and abandon attachment. One should view painful feeling as this aggregate being a collection of the causes of suffering, from which suffering arises like a thorn, and thereby abandon hatred. One should view neutral feeling as being of the nature of impermanence, exhaustion, and cessation, and thereby abandon ignorance, not allowing the three feelings to become the cause of the three poisons. These are explained according to the intention of the Yogachara treatises and the Compendium of Determinations. For example, carrying a heavy burden is like not having comfort as long as one has to carry that burden. Similarly, the burden of the aggregates of appropriation also becomes suffering as long as it needs to be carried, because the bad destination of suffering and afflictions is firmly established in this aggregate, so if there is the suffering of conditioning, the suffering of feeling is not present now.
