Sometimes, even when it arises, it doesn't immediately generate various sufferings from various avenues. Therefore, the suffering of conditioning pervades all sufferings and is the root of the other two sufferings, so one should cultivate much weariness towards this. Furthermore, the present feeling of pleasure that increases attachment is mostly the thought of pleasure arising from the remedy of suffering. Without relying on the removal of suffering, there is no pleasure in its own nature. For example, when suffering from walking too much, the thought of pleasure arises from sitting down, which is because when the previous great suffering gradually ceases, pleasure gradually appears, but it is not pleasure in its own nature. Because if one sits for too long, it will generate suffering as before. If it were the cause of pleasure in its own nature, just as suffering increases by merely relying on the cause of suffering, walking, sitting, lying down, eating, drinking, and relying on the sun and shade, etc., should also increase pleasure the longer they are relied upon. But if the time is too long, it only appears to generate suffering. Likewise, from entering the womb, Kashyapa! The postures of walking, sitting, standing, and lying down should also be recognized as suffering separately. If a meditator examines the nature of those postures, if he spends the day walking and does not stand, sit, or lie down, then he will separately experience only the suffering of walking, and he will separately experience intensity, roughness, un bearableness, and unpleasantness. For walking, the perception of pleasure will not arise. Thus it is said in the sutra. It is also said in the same way for the other three postures. Kashyapa! However, because the suffering of that particular posture is cut off, new sufferings arise, and thus the perception of pleasure arises. Kashyapa! When it arises, only this suffering arises, and when it ceases, only this suffering ceases. When it arises, only conditioned things arise, and when it ceases, only conditioned things cease. Thus it is said in the sutra. The Four Hundred Verses also say: For the pleasure that is increasing, if one sees how it is reversed, then

Suffering is increasing, and there is no way to stop it. It is said. Secondly, there are six ways to contemplate the suffering of each individual, of which the suffering of the three lower realms has already been discussed. The suffering of humans is: the unpleasantness of hunger and thirst, and the touch of heat and cold, as well as the suffering of seeking and labor, and also the seven sufferings of birth, old age, sickness, and death, which have been explained before and should be understood. Furthermore, in the 'Collection of Sayings,' it says: All the sufferings of the lower realms seem to exist in humans as well. Tormented by suffering, it is like hell. Due to poverty, it is like the realm of Yama. The suffering of animals here is also that the powerful oppress the powerless with force, and various oppressions and harms are like a river. Some are caused by poverty, and others are born from not knowing contentment. The suffering of complete seeking is unbearable, and everything is fighting and killing. And, in the 'Four Hundred Verses,' it says: For the श्रेष्ठ (superior), it is mental suffering, and for ordinary people, it is physical suffering. These two sufferings destroy this world day by day. It should be understood as such. The suffering of the Asuras (demigods) is, as stated in the 'Friendly Letter': Even the Asuras have great mental suffering because they are naturally jealous of the glory of the gods. Even though they have wisdom, they cannot see the truth because of the obscurations of karma. It is said. That is, they suffer mentally because they cannot bear the wealth of the gods, and therefore, when fighting with the gods, they experience many sufferings such as being cut and torn apart. Although they have wisdom, they cannot see the truth in that state because they have the obscurations of karmic ripening. This is considered the animal realm in the 'Mindfulness Sutra,' and the realm of the gods in the 'Yogacara Bhumi.' There are two ways to contemplate the suffering of the gods, among which the desire realm gods have three sufferings: the suffering of death and falling, the suffering of strife, and the suffering of being cut, torn, killed, and expelled. The first has two aspects: the suffering of death and falling is: even in heaven, those great pleasures, the suffering of death and falling is even greater. Having thought in this way, wise people do not crave for the heaven that will eventually be exhausted. It is said.
