Because of constantly accumulating, even if one dies from the lower realms, one must transmigrate to the lower realms, so it is difficult to be liberated. Just experiencing these alone will not change liberation. Like this, while experiencing, other sins will arise greatly. Because it is said like that. Like this, even if one thinks of how difficult it is to obtain, if one still uses this basis for evil deeds, then it seems very wasteful, and one should spend time practicing the sacred Dharma, generating the thought of wanting to extract the essence. In the 'Letter to a Friend,' it says: 'It is more difficult than a yoke hole in the great ocean meeting a turtle. It is extremely difficult to obtain a human body from animals. Therefore, O King, please accomplish its fruit by practicing the sacred Dharma.' If someone uses a golden vessel adorned with jewels to sweep away filthy vomit, then more foolish than that is someone who, having been born as a human, commits sinful deeds. In the 'Exhortation to Learning,' it also says: 'The object of a human body is extremely difficult to obtain. Once obtained, one should strive to practice whatever one deems meaningful.' Because it is said like that. Moreover, when the great yogi spoke some idle words to the venerable one, he said that it is difficult to find such a leisure and endowment. In Phenyul (the area around present-day Linzhou County, Lhasa), there was a stone castle called Reme Chakka, which was seized by enemies and was in danger for a long time. An old man was suffering because of that castle. Once he heard that the castle had been taken back. Even though he could not walk, he held a spear and dragged his body, saying that it would be good if the matter of taking back Reme Chakka Castle was not a dream. Similarly, one should feel happy about obtaining leisure and endowment and then practice the Dharma. Potowa said that, and one should repeatedly cultivate such a mind. Like this, in order to generate a thought of wanting to extract the essence that is complete with the characteristics of leisure and endowment, one needs to contemplate the four dharmas. Among them, what needs to be practiced is: all sentient beings want happiness and do not want suffering, and achieving happiness and eliminating suffering also completely depend on the supreme Dharma. The reason why one is able to practice is: the external condition is a spiritual friend, and the internal condition is being endowed with leisure and endowment. Moreover, the reason why one needs to practice in this life is: if one does not practice in this life, then in many rebirths, leisure and endowment will be extremely difficult to obtain. The reason why one must practice right now is: when

Because death is uncertain. Among them, the third prevents the laziness of thinking that Dharma will be practiced in future lives, and the fourth prevents the laziness of thinking that although Dharma must be practiced in this life, it has not been accomplished in the past year, month, and day, and it is okay to practice it later, so the two are combined into rapid practice, and it is okay to divide them into three. In this way, mindfulness of death is also related to this, but because there are many words, it will be discussed below. Thinking from various angles in this way will cause confusion in thinking, so think according to what was said before. If you can't do that, summarize how the nature of leisure and endowment is, and how it is meaningful from the perspective of temporary and ultimate, and how difficult it is to obtain from the perspective of cause and effect, and then extract suitable parts from what was said before and practice them. Among them, it is difficult to obtain from the perspective of cause: Generally speaking, even just obtaining a good rebirth requires doing one pure virtue such as morality. In particular, obtaining complete leisure and endowment requires pure morality as the foundation, generosity and so on as companions, and pure aspirations as connections, etc., requiring many roots of virtue, but it seems that cultivating such a cause is very rare, so based on this, the result, the general basis of good rebirth and especially the difficulty of obtaining should be thought of in this way. It is difficult to obtain from the perspective of result: Compared to dissimilar bad rebirths, just a good rebirth seems to be the end of existence. Compared to similar good rebirths, especially those with leisure are very rare, and this should be practiced. Geshe Dolpa emphasized this very much, saying that all other Dharmas are led by this, so one should strive. Second, the way to take the essence is divided into two: generating certainty about the general structure of the path, and how to actually take the essence of it. The first is divided into two: how all the scriptures are included in the path of the three types of people, and the reason for guiding them sequentially through the three types of people. The first is: All of the Buddha's initial generation of bodhichitta, accumulation of merit in the middle, and final manifestation of complete enlightenment are for the benefit of sentient beings. Therefore, all the teachings are also for the purpose of accomplishing the affairs of sentient beings.
