Therefore, only someone who can accomplish the meaning of all that is not designated is worthy of refuge. And this exists only in the Buddha, not in power, etc. Therefore, only that one is the refuge. Therefore, the Dharma taught by him, and the Sangha of his Shravakas, are also worthy of refuge. Therefore, if you can derive certainty from these teachings in the Compendium and be able to generate a single-minded reliance, it is impossible not to be saved, so you must generate certainty from the bottom of your heart. Because for self-rescue, the external limb or cause of these two has been proven by showing that there is nothing incomplete, but because the internal limb - entrusting faith and taking refuge in it - has not arisen, it is painful. Therefore, it should be recognized that even if not requested, it will be a helper led by great compassion, and for this helper, there is no laziness, such an unparalleled and excellent refuge is residing in the position of one's protector, and one should recognize this and take refuge in it. As it is said in "Praise of Praise": I am the protectorless of you, Declaring to be a companion, Great compassion covers all sentient beings, Residing as if embracing. The teacher has great compassion, Loving sentient beings with constant compassion, Diligent and tireless like this, Who else is like you? You are the protector of all sentient beings, The root of common goodness, Not knowing that you live as a protector, Therefore, beings are mired in suffering. After someone truly receives it, Even the lowly can help, Such is the Dharma of a companion, Who else but you can know? All the powers of external limbs, You have truly accomplished, Because the inner strength is not complete, Children suffer. Thus it is said. How to take refuge? There are four kinds mentioned in the Compendium, namely: knowing the qualities, knowing the differences, promising, and not speaking differently, thereby taking refuge. First, taking refuge by knowing the qualities requires remembering the qualities of the refuge, so there are three: the qualities of the Buddha, the qualities of the Dharma, and the qualities of the Sangha. The first has four: the qualities of the body, which are remembering the excellent marks and characteristics of the Buddha, for example, in the "Parable Praise" it says: Your body is adorned with excellent marks, Beautiful and pleasing nectar for the eyes,

In the sky without dimness, adorned with a multitude of stars, Like the Able One, possessing golden hue, Adorned with robes, becoming beautiful. The summit of the golden mountain, Seems to be encircled by twilight clouds. Protector, though not adorned with ornaments, Your face's mandala is full of radiance. The mandala of the full moon, Even without clouds, it is not like that. Your lotus face, And the lotus opening to the sun, If a bee sees the lotus, It will enter into a state of doubt and hesitation. Your face, possessing a golden hue, With white teeth, becoming beautiful, Like the autumn moonlight, Entering the crevices of a golden mountain, pure. Worthy of offering, your right hand, Adorned with the mark of the wheel, To those who are afraid of samsara, Your hand grants relief. When the Able One passed away, Your two feet, like glorious lotuses, Were drawn on this earth, How beautiful with lotuses! As it is said, remember it. The qualities of speech: Whatever sentient beings there are in the realms of the world, even if they ask different questions one by one at the same time, having grasped them with the wisdom that possesses a single moment of mind, answering all the questions with a single speech, and they also understand it in their own language, thinking of this extremely wonderful way. As it is said in the chapter of the Truthful One: Thus, when all sentient beings ask many definitive words at once, Having understood in a single moment of mind, they also answer separately with a single voice. Therefore, know that the guide in the world proclaims the Brahma-like sound and voice. That is what brings an end to the suffering of gods and humans, and turns the wheel of Dharma. It is said. Furthermore, from the Hundred and Fifty Verses: Your face is very pleasing to see, More pleasing to hear than that, These words are like the moon, Nectar drips from it. Your speech is like a rain cloud, That completely pacifies the dust of desire. For extracting the snake of hatred, It is like a Garuda descending from the sky. Repeatedly, in places not understood, Destroying the dimness like an umbrella, For manifestly destroying the mountain of pride, It is also like a vajra. Meaning
