not completely done. There is a risk of suffering in the next life. One will be bewildered by the fear of death. I don't remember having done anything that I would regret in my heart. One should also fully familiarize oneself with white deeds. If one abides in the Dharma, who would fear death? Thus it is said. It is also said in the Four Hundred Verses: "Whoever thinks, 'I will die,' whoever has certainty about that, has completely abandoned fear, so why would they fear the Lord of Death?" Therefore, one should repeatedly contemplate that the body and possessions will inevitably separate quickly, so that the desire to not separate from them will be reversed, and one will not fear death due to the mental anguish caused by separating from them. Fourth, how to cultivate mindfulness of death? It should be cultivated through the three roots, nine reasons, and three kinds of determination. There are three of these: contemplating that one will definitely die, contemplating that it is uncertain when one will die, and contemplating that at the time of death, nothing other than the Dharma will be of help. The first has three aspects: contemplating that the Lord of Death will definitely come, and that it cannot be averted by circumstances. No matter what kind of body one obtains, death will come. In the Compendium of Impermanence it says: "Whether it is a Buddha, a Pratyekabuddha, or even the Shravaka disciples of the Buddhas, they will abandon this body, so what need is there to mention ordinary people?" Wherever one lives, death will come. It says: "There is no place where one can escape death, not in the sky, not in the ocean, not even if one enters the mountains." At any time in the past or future, there is no difference in beings being destroyed by death. It says: "However many beings have come and will come, all will abandon this body and go, the wise should realize that all of this will perish, and one must practice abiding in the Dharma." One cannot escape by fleeing from the Lord of Death, nor can one avert it by mantras, etc. In the Advice to the King it says: "For example, from four directions come four great mountains, solid, stable, with a core, not damaged, not cracked, without gaps, very hard, completely dense, touching the sky and covering the earth,
