It is inexhaustible, and in summary, it can be summarized as accumulating, purifying, increasing, and inexhaustible. Then, visualizing clearly, offer the mandala, and pray that all the inverted thoughts from disrespecting the guru to clinging to the duality of self and other will quickly cease, and that all the non-inverted thoughts from respecting the guru to realizing the selflessness of suchness will easily arise, and that all external and internal obstacles will be pacified. Pray for blessings. Pray many times with strong intention. How to cultivate the main practice is divided into two: general practice and the practice in this situation. First, the so-called meditation refers to the habit of focusing the mind again and again on the object of virtue. From beginningless time, our mind has been controlled by itself, and we ourselves cannot control it. The mind also always tends to afflictions and other obstacles, thus generating various faults. Therefore, we must make this mind controllable by ourselves, so that it can be used at will to focus on the object of virtue, which is the purpose of meditation. However, if we focus on the object casually, even if we have decided in our minds how many virtuous objects to practice and in what order to practice them, we will not be able to complete them as we wish. In this way, wanting to focus on the object of virtue at will becomes a huge obstacle. Moreover, letting go from the beginning will lead to a whole life of practice full of flaws. Therefore, we must first clearly define the number and order of the objects to be practiced. Then, make a firm decision not to change what has been determined, and practice with mindfulness and awareness, meticulously. The method of this practice is: first, think about the benefits of relying on a good teacher, such as quickly attaining Buddhahood, etc.; and the disadvantages of not relying on them, such as suffering in this life and the next. Then, generate a strong protective mind, warning yourself not to give rise to thoughts of distinguishing the guru's faults. And think about the merits of discipline, meditation, wisdom, and listening to the Dharma that you can understand, so as to generate faith and fill your heart with joy.

One should meditate until reverence arises. Then, as previously quoted from the Sutras, contemplate the kindness of those who have benefited or will benefit you, and from the depths of your heart, meditate until reverence arises. Finally, how should one act? One should dedicate the accumulated merits with intense aspiration to the temporary and ultimate wishes through the "Excellent Conduct Prayer" and the "Seventy Aspirations," etc. In this way, one should meditate in four sessions: at dawn, in the morning, in the afternoon, and at night. Because initially, long sessions easily lead to dullness and agitation, and once accustomed to that, it is difficult to tame the mind, therefore, one should shorten each session and increase the number of sessions. If one interrupts when wanting to meditate, then one will also want to continue meditating later. Otherwise, it is like someone saying, "Seeing the bed makes me nauseous." Once it has become somewhat stable, one can lengthen the sessions. In all of this, one should avoid the faults of being too tight and too loose in application, and practice accordingly. This will reduce obstacles and pacify excessive fatigue and drowsiness, etc. How should one act in between sessions? Generally, there are many ways, such as prostrations, circumambulations, and recitations, but here, the most important thing is: strive for the essence of the session, and if one lets go without relying on mindfulness and awareness during the breaks between sessions, then the growth of benefit will be very small. Therefore, in between sessions, one should also look at and repeatedly remember those teachings that explain the content of the session. Accumulate the conducive conditions for the arising of qualities from many sources, and also purify obstacles and obscurations from many sources. The basis of everything lies in guarding the vows one has taken, striving to the best of one's ability, training the mind on the object of focus, and there are also those who combine guarding vows, accumulating merit, and training the mind into one, and guide it by naming it "Three-in-One." Furthermore, one should also train in the four accumulations that cause the path of tranquility and insight to arise easily, namely: guarding the doors of the senses, acting with awareness, knowing the measure of food, striving in yoga without sleeping, and how to act when sleeping. The first has five aspects: what is guarding? It is guarding mindfulness at all times and constantly striving in mindfulness. Among them, the first is to not forget and repeatedly cultivate the teachings that begin with guarding the doors of the senses.
