The training of meditative stabilization in the intermediate state arises. Near pacification is, relying on the calm abiding that the mind is capable of, individually examining the correct meaning, the training of wisdom arises. Thus, it is not enough to have only the qualities of realization that have tamed the mind through the three trainings. One must also possess the qualities of scripture, so being rich in scripture means having extensive learning in the three baskets and so on. Geshe Tonpa said, when explaining the actions of a Mahayana lama, one must generate vast understanding, and when putting it into practice, one needs someone who can point out what benefits the end of the teachings and what directly becomes meaningful. Realizing that itself is, the special training of wisdom, realizing the selflessness of phenomena, or mainly taking the realization of that very nature as the main thing. He said that even without that, it can be accomplished through scriptural and logical reasoning. Thus, even if one has scripture and realization, it is not enough to be inferior or equal to the student, so one needs a more excellent quality. As it says in the Collection of Friends: By relying on the inferior, impurity turns into decay, by relying on the direct, one remains in place, by relying on the superior, one will obtain excellence, therefore one should rely on the superior as the master. Morality is near pacification, and wisdom is most excellent, whoever is the master, rely on him, and he will become more excellent than the master. Because of this reason. Phuchungwa said that when he heard the biographies of the holy ones, he would look up to them. Magzhi said: I use those old men of Radrengba as examples. Like this, one needs to look up to more excellent qualities. Like this, these six dharmas are the qualities that one has obtained oneself. The rest are the qualities of following others, and that is as it is said in the scriptures: The Buddhas do not wash away sins with water, nor do they remove the suffering of beings with their hands, nor do they transfer their own realization to others, but they liberate by showing the truth of the Dharma. As it is said, apart from showing the path to others without error and following them, it is impossible to wash away sins with water and so on. Among those four dharmas, being skilled in speaking is, being skilled in the order of how to guide, and striving to convey the meaning to the minds of the trainees. Love is, the pure intention of the Dharma teacher, that is, not being greedy for gain and respect.

etc., without looking at these, but teaching with love and compassion. Potowa said to the former teacher, "Son of Limo, I have taught so much Dharma, but I have not received even one 'good'. It is necessary to say something like 'There is no sentient being who is not pitiful'." Diligence means having a firm enthusiasm for the benefit of others. Abandoning laziness means not getting tired of repeatedly explaining, that is, being able to endure the hardships of explaining. Potowa said, "The three trainings, realization, and the five kinds of love are the main things. Our teacher Xiangzun Kun neither had extensive learning nor could he endure laziness, and he did not even take the kindness of the servant to heart, but because he had the previous five, he was beneficial to those around him. Nyenton is not good at speaking, and only thinks when giving some merit lectures, 'Everyone probably doesn't understand these', and doesn't know anything else, but because he has these five, he is beneficial to those who are close to him." In this way, those who do not devote themselves to practicing the trainings, but maintain their livelihood by praising or extolling their merits, are not suitable to be spiritual friends. Just as some people maintain their livelihood by praising sandalwood, if someone asks him, "Do you have sandalwood?" but he answers no, this is like being meaningless, only empty words remain. As the Samadhiraja Sutra says: "In the time of the degenerate age, the monks, those without precepts are very many, those who have heard much desire to increase, they praise and proclaim morality, but they do not practice morality." In this way, it is also said about samadhi, wisdom, and liberation. Also, for example: "It is like someone saying, this sandalwood is extremely wonderful, its fragrance is pleasing and very delightful, praising the excellent qualities of sandalwood. Then another person asks, 'You who praise such qualities, do you have a small portion of sandalwood?' That person hears this and replies, 'He who lives by praising incense, that incense is truly not with me.' Likewise, the yoga practitioner is not diligent, in the degenerate age he lives by praising morality, those bodies do not have morality." The remaining three are also spoken of in the same way. Therefore, the guru who accomplishes liberation is the root of ultimate aspiration, so the guru
