You possess. As it is said, it is said that there were twelve masters who attained accomplishments, and there are many others as well. It has already been explained that he is learned in the five sciences. Therefore, this master is able to perfectly ascertain the intention of the Victorious Ones. Although this kind of master has countless students in India, Kashmir, Oddiyana, Nepal, and Tibet, the main ones in India are the great Pandit Vitopa, who is equal in wisdom to Jowo (Atiśa), Dharma Akaramati, Uma Simha, and Earth Essence, these four. Some also say five, including the secret spiritual friend. From Ngari (now the Ngari region) are the translator Rinchen Zangpo, the translator Nagtso, and Lha Lama Jangchub Ö. From Tsang are Gar Gewa and Gö Khukpa Lhatse. From Lhodrak are Chakpa Tri Chok and Gewa Kyong. From Kham are the great yogi, Gonpawa, Sherab Dorje, and Chakdar Tönpa. From U are the three, Khu, Ngok, and Drom. Among these disciples, the great lineage holder who expands the activities of the master himself is Dromtönpa Gyalwai Jungne, who was prophesied by Tara. These are brief accounts of the author's greatness; for details, one should refer to the great biographical texts. Next, the greatness of the Dharma is explained. The Dharma is the text of this instruction, the "Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment." Although Jowo has authored many texts, the complete one that is like a root is the "Lamp for the Path," because it gathers the essential points of both Sutra and Tantra and explains them, so its subject matter is complete; it mainly focuses on the stages of taming the mind, so it is easy to practice; and it is adorned with the instructions of two masters who are learned in the systems of the two great chariots, so it is more excellent than other traditions. This text's instructions have four qualities: the quality of realizing that all teachings are non-contradictory, the quality of all scriptures appearing as instructions, the quality of easily attaining the intention of the Victorious Ones, and the quality of great misdeeds naturally ceasing. The first quality, the teachings, is: In the extensive commentary on the "Lamp of Wisdom," it says: "The teachings refer to the fact that, for those who desire to attain the state of gods, humans, and nectar, they unerringly indicate what should be known, what should be abandoned, what should be directly realized, and what should be cultivated, that is, the Bhagavan."

It is called "...the scriptures." As it is said, all that has been well-spoken by the Buddha should be understood as without contradiction, and here it is understood as the path by which a single individual attains Buddhahood. Some of these are the main parts of the path, and some are the branches of the path, each varying accordingly. The intention of the Bodhisattvas is to accomplish the benefit of the world, and the beings to be tamed must also be embraced with all three types of dispositions, therefore one must study their paths. The Bodhicitta Commentary says: "Having ascertained oneself, in order to cause others to ascertain, the wise should always engage diligently without error." Also, the Pramāṇavārttika says: "Having obtained the means, that cause is hidden, to explain that is very difficult." This means that if one has not ascertained oneself as it is, one cannot teach others. Knowing the paths of the three vehicles is the method for accomplishing the intention of the Bodhisattva, and Mipham Rinpoche said: "Those who benefit beings, by knowing the path itself, accomplish the benefit of the world." Also, the Mother Sutra says: "Bodhisattvas should generate all the paths of what is the path of the Hearers, what is the path of the Solitary Buddhas, and what is the path of the Buddhas, and they should know all the paths. They should also perfect those, and they should also do the activities of those paths." Therefore, because one is a Mahayana practitioner, to say that one should not study the Hinayana pitaka is a sign of contradiction. Entering the Mahayana path has two aspects: the common path and the uncommon path. The common path is that which arises from the Hinayana pitaka, so how could those be abandoned? Therefore, except for a few who pursue personal peace and happiness, etc., all Mahayana practitioners must also practice, and this is also the reason why the extremely vast pitaka of the Bodhisattvas extensively teaches all three vehicles. Furthermore, the perfectly complete Buddha is not one who only eliminates some faults and perfects some qualities, but one who eliminates all kinds of faults and perfects all kinds of qualities. The Mahayana that accomplishes that is also
