This is the way to tame. First, when engaging in taking the essence of leisure, among the four inversions, the inversion of clinging to permanence in impermanence becomes the door of harm first. Among the two, subtle and coarse, the very thought of not dying in the coarse impermanence of death is the door of harm. Even though everyone has the thought that they will eventually die, they think, "I won't die today, I won't die today," and hold on to the side of not dying, even until death. If you don't remember the antidote, then if you are obscured by such thoughts, the thought of staying in this life will arise, and then you will think that you need this and that during this time, and you will only think about the methods of accomplishing happiness and eliminating suffering in this life. Therefore, the mind that analyzes the great meanings such as the next life, liberation, and omniscience will not arise, and it will not give rise to the mind that enters the Dharma. Even if one in a hundred engages in hearing, thinking, and meditation, etc., it is only for the sake of this life, and whatever virtues are done are small. Moreover, since it is often associated with misdeeds and sins, it is rare to be unmixed with the cause of bad destinies. Even if you practice with the expectation of the next life, you will not be able to prevent the laziness of procrastination of "gradually practicing later," and you will waste time with sleepiness, drowsiness, idle talk, and distractions such as eating and drinking, so you will not be able to practice properly with great diligence. Thus, deceived by the hope that the body and life will last for a long time, strong attachments will arise to gains and respect, and strong hatred will arise to those who hinder or suspect that they will hinder them, as well as ignorance of the faults of these, and the afflictions and near afflictions such as pride and jealousy that arise from them, will arise like a river. From this, the ten misdeeds of body, speech, and mind, the five inexpiable sins and their near sins, and abandoning the holy Dharma, etc., the non-virtuous deeds that lead to severe suffering such as bad destinies increase day by day. And the antidote to these, the nectar of the well-spoken Dharma

Turning away from the Dharma, thereby cutting off the life of higher rebirth and definite goodness, in the unpleasant places of the lower realms where suffering is intense, harsh, hot, and unpleasant, being approached by death and led by bad karma, so what other door is worse than that? The Four Hundred also says: Who possesses the dominion of the three realms, but does not have a lord of death himself, if he can sleep peacefully, what else is worse than that? Thus it is said. The Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life also says: Everything must be abandoned and left behind, but I have not known it in this way, for the sake of friends and non-friends, I have committed all kinds of sins. Thus it is said. Second, the benefit of cultivation is: If a genuine mind of mindfulness of death arises, for example, if it is certain that one will die today or tomorrow, even if one has only a little understanding of the Dharma, one will see relatives and possessions as unreliable, thereby cutting off attachment to them, and just as the desire to obtain essence through generosity and other means arises naturally, all efforts made for the sake of worldly concerns such as fame and reputation will be seen as meaningless as winnowing chaff, and will be seen as places of deception, thereby turning away from evil deeds, and with constant and respectful diligence, one will accumulate all good deeds such as taking refuge and keeping vows, thereby obtaining the supreme essence from meaningless things such as the body, thereby elevating oneself to the supreme position, and leading beings there as well, so what is more important than that? Therefore, many metaphors also praise it. The Great Nirvana Sutra says: Among all fields, the field of autumn harvest is the best. Among all footprints, the footprint of the ox is the best. Among all thoughts, the thought of impermanence and death is the best. Because these can eliminate the desires, ignorance, and pride of the three realms. Thus it is said. Similarly, it is also praised as the hammer that simultaneously destroys all afflictions and evil deeds, and the great door that simultaneously enters into the accomplishment of all goodness, and so on. The Heap Sutra also says: This body should be known as a pottery vessel, likewise, know all phenomena as illusions, the flowers of Mara.
