Limbs, virtues, desire, characteristics, and firewood, etc. Possessing virtues, possessing limbs, attachment, and the base, and the meaning of fire, etc. These, when analyzed in the manner of a chariot, do not exist in seven ways. Apart from these, they exist in the manner of worldly convention. Thus it is said. Therefore, those things that worldly beings speak of should be understood as existing without being examined. What are they? Limbs and possessors of limbs, etc. For example, in the case of a pot, the pot is the possessor of limbs, the possessor of qualities, and the base. Fragments, etc., are limbs, and blue, etc., are qualities. A bulging belly, a drooping mouth, a long neck, etc., are characteristics. The same applies to woolen cloth, etc. Desire is excessive attachment, and clinging is its basis. This is explained in the commentary on those who are attached. Fire is the burner, and firewood is what is burned. Therefore, just as one posits the possessor of limbs in dependence on the limbs, and one also posits the limbs in dependence on the possessor of limbs, so one should apply it all the way to positing firewood in dependence on fire, and positing fire in dependence on firewood. Also, in the eighth chapter, it says: The agent exists in dependence on the action, and the action also exists in dependence on the agent itself. Apart from arising in dependence, the cause of establishment is not seen. And, through the agent and the action, one should understand the remaining things. Thus it is said, the produced and the producer, the goer and the going, the seen and the seer, the measure and the measurable, etc., all are not established by their own nature, but should be understood as merely established in dependence on each other. In this way, if, like myself, one understands emptiness of inherent existence and absence of inherent existence through analysis, and the way of establishing the two truths in which action is reasonable, then one can apply this to all phenomena and easily realize the absence of inherent existence of all phenomena. Therefore, one should gain certainty about the example and meaning explained earlier. As it is said in the King of Samadhi Sutra: Just as you understand the perception of self, apply that understanding to everything with your mind. All phenomena are of that nature, completely pure like the sky. One also knows everything through one, one also sees everything through one.

Even having spoken so much, one will not become arrogant because of it. As it is said. Second, establishing the selflessness of phenomena. The five aggregates that are the basis for designating a person, as well as the six elements such as the earth element, and the six sense bases such as the eye, etc., are phenomena. The emptiness of those phenomena from inherent existence, which is established by their own nature, is the selflessness of those phenomena. Although there are many ways to establish it, in the Madhyamakāvatāra, it is said in the commentary that the establishment of the absence of inherent existence in things by negating the four alternatives of arising is the selflessness of phenomena, so here it will be briefly described. The first chapter says: Not from self, not from other, not from both, not without cause, whatever things, wherever, arising never exists. Thus it is said. Whatever internal and external things, from self, wherever, arising never exists. It is said. Similarly, the other three propositions should also be applied. Thus, the arising from self is refuted by consequentialism. Although such a proposition is made, no example or reason is given to prove it, but rather the faults that contradict those propositions are shown. Here, if it arises by its own nature, it is determined whether it depends on a cause or not. For the case of depending on a cause, it is also determined whether the result and the cause are of the same nature or of different natures. Among them, the arising of cause and effect with the same nature is self-arising, and the arising of different natures is other-arising. Therefore, for these, it is also determined that there are two types of arising: from each of self and other, and from the collection of self and other. Each of self-arising and other-arising, the way to eliminate other extremes by merely negating the four alternatives of arising is thus. If a sprout arises from its own nature of the sprout, then arising becomes meaningless, because arising is for the purpose of obtaining the nature of the thing to be arisen, and the sprout has already obtained its own nature. For example, like a clearly visible sprout. Arising will also become endless, because if the seed that has already arisen arises again, then that seed must arise again and again. In this way, the mere continuous arising of the seed will lead to the fault of not finding the opportunity to arise for sprouts and so on. The twentieth chapter also says:
