Even without the slightest obstruction, it is not contradictory that it arises depending on the accumulator of karma, the experiencer of the fruit, and past karma and afflictions, etc. One should train in this way. One should know that this is the case in all similar situations. So, if these images, etc., are determined to be empty in the place where they appear, and if one realizes that they have no self-nature, then the direct perception of ordinary beings will realize no self-nature, so will they become noble ones? If not, how can these be examples of no self-nature? If those examples also need to be realized as having no self-nature based on reasoning, then what should be established as their example? If one examines in this way, one will have to go through an endless cycle, do you think? To this, some previous teachers say: Although images, etc., are directly realized as having no self-nature, they will not become noble ones, because they only realize the emptiness of a limited object. To become a noble one, one must directly realize the selflessness of all phenomena. Although they say this, it is not reasonable. In the Four Hundred Verses it says: Whoever sees one thing, he is said to see all things, the emptiness of one, is the emptiness of all. Therefore, realizing the emptiness of the selflessness of one phenomenon can realize the emptiness of all phenomena. Therefore, realizing that the image is empty of the face, although one does not grasp the face as true, what contradiction is there in grasping the image as truly existing? Regarding this, young children who are not familiar with expression, when they see the image of a face, they play, etc., so they will grasp the face as true. But old people who are familiar with expression, although they know that these are not faces, and are certain that the face is empty, they will grasp the image that appears as a face itself as existing, established by its own nature, and this is the grasping of reality, and this can also be established by experiencing it in one's own continuum. Even so, it is reasonable as an example of no self-nature, because the place where it appears is empty of its own nature, so the no self-nature of the place where it appears is established by direct perception, therefore, it is taken as an example. The place where it appears is empty of its own nature, like a sprout, etc.

If it is established by valid cognition on the ground, then one realizes that the nature of a sprout does not exist, so it is different from images, etc. This means that, just as these things like pots do not exist in themselves, but are widely known in the world. Placing pots, etc., as examples of non-inherent existence in things, is also like images, etc., which are temporary emptiness. But their nature is not non-existent, because as previously stated, it has been repeatedly explained that things like chariots have no inherent existence. Similarly, regarding illusion, some spectators perceive horses, cows, etc., as real, while the magician knows that horses and cows are false, which is also temporary emptiness. In dreams, when we focus on objects of the container and its contents, upon awakening, we perceive them as empty and false because they appear differently than when awake. Regardless of how we perceive them when asleep, even if we perceive the men and women in dreams as empty because they are not real men and women, we do not thereby realize that the nature of dreams does not exist, just as we ascertain that images, etc., have no face. As previously quoted: "Whatever is attributed to illusions, mirages, etc., does not even exist in the world." Just as in mirages, illusions, and dreams, we perceive the existence of water, horses, cows, men, women, etc., the self-satisfaction of conventional valid cognition harms this. Therefore, understanding that they do not have the meaning as we cling to them is not the view of realizing the absence of inherent existence of phenomena. Therefore, we should contemplate the meaning of those illusions previously explained through the verses of the profound sutras. It should be done as stated in the Samadhiraja Sutra, as it says: "Like a mirage and a city of gandharvas, like an illusion and a dream, contemplate signs as empty of essence, know all phenomena to be like that. As the moon rises in the clear sky, its image appears in the clear lake, the moon does not move into the water, know all phenomena to be of such nature. As people dwell in the forest mountains, from singing, speaking, playing, and crying, they hear echoes but there is no appearance, know all phenomena to be of such nature."
