Exemplification is also needed. Thus, if one wishes to generate (conviction) in the mind of an external opponent by relying on the reason that is the nature of the subject and pervasion, as well as the proposition to be established by it, and the words that combine the inference that realizes it, then, at that time, it is merely hating the name of Svatantrika, and what is the use of the labor of preventing Svatantrika? Regarding this, as you have cited, there are also statements saying there is no proposition and no sectarianism, and there are also many statements saying that a commitment must be established, how can one establish non-sectarianism by citing only those? However, the doubt that if there is a proposition of emptiness of inherent existence, it will become a Svatantrika, is very true, because this seems to be a very subtle difficulty. The answer to this will be explained when establishing one's own system. The reason why it is said in the Vigrahavyavartani that there is no proposition is because when the Madhyamika says that things do not have inherent existence, the realist argues that if the words of such a proposition have inherent existence, then it is unreasonable that all things do not have inherent existence, and if it does not have inherent existence, it cannot negate having inherent existence, this is derived from the debate. It is also reasonable to perform the actions of refutation and establishment for things that do not have inherent existence, just like the root and commentary of the Vigrahavyavartani cited earlier. Therefore, the existence or non-existence of a proposition is not a dispute about general existence or non-existence, but a dispute about whether the words of the proposition "all things do not have inherent existence" have inherent existence. If one admits that the words of such a proposition have inherent existence, we would have the fault of contradicting the proposition that all things do not have inherent existence, but we do not think so, so I do not have that fault, that is the meaning. Therefore, it cannot be used as a reason for not having a proposition, because the difference between non-inherent existence and non-existence is very large. If it is said that "if manifest, etc.", etc., also say that manifest, etc. do not apprehend anything, it is also like the quote from the Prasannapada cited earlier, it is saying that on valid cognition and the object to be cognized, there is no object to be apprehended and apprehending subject that are established by their own nature, but it is not saying that the valid cognition and the object to be cognized of dependent origination do not exist. Also, his idea is that it is reasonable to negate the own-character of things after it has been established by manifest cognition, but the Madhyamika thinks that all things are inherently existent.
