Yes. The commentary on the Four Hundred also states that emptiness is the negation of being established by its own nature, as it says: If there were something called emptiness that was established by its own nature, then things would become endowed with self-nature. To show that this is not the case, it is said: Without non-emptiness, from what would emptiness arise? Just as without an opponent, how would an antidote arise? Thus it is proclaimed. If it were not so, but the emptiness of no self-nature were denied, then there would be no self-nature. If that were the case, then there would be self-nature established by its own nature. Therefore, self-nature cannot be denied in any way. Similarly, in the Refutation of Disputes it says: If by no self-nature, how is no self-nature refuted? If no self-nature itself is refuted, then it becomes established as self-nature. In its auto-commentary it says: Just as saying "do not make a sound" is like sound refuting sound, similarly, if the word itself, being without self-nature, refutes things that are without self-nature, then this example also becomes reasonable. This is because the word itself, being without self-nature, refutes the self-nature of things. If the word itself, being without self-nature, refutes the very absence of self-nature in things, then because the absence of self-nature itself is refuted, things become endowed with self-nature, and because they are endowed with self-nature, they become non-empty. Because it is stated very clearly. Therefore, the previous verse from the Root Wisdom: How could emptiness exist? Immediately after that it says: The Victorious Ones have said that emptiness is the definitive abandonment of all views. Those who hold the view of emptiness are said to be incurable. The view of emptiness mentioned here does not refer to thinking that self-nature is empty, but rather to grasping emptiness, which is empty of self-nature, as real or viewing it as a thing. As Buddhapālita says: For those who cling to the notion that things exist by their own nature, emptiness is said to be dependent arising, which is established as things by the power of causes and conditions, not

Things do not exist by their own nature. Therefore, when the nature of things is fully revealed as emptiness, it can prevent attachment. However, for those who are attached to emptiness itself as a thing, there is no other way to prevent that attachment. For example, when someone says, "There is nothing," if someone says, "Give me that nothing," how can he be made to accept "nothingness"? It's like that. Because it has been clearly explained with examples. If you don't do that, the example is not appropriate either. Some people ask others for wealth, and when (the other person) says there is no wealth, it is not wrong to think, "This person has no wealth." However, if you take the absence of wealth itself as wealth, it is like there is no certainty that there is no wealth. When asking whether things have inherent existence, if you answer that there is no inherent existence, and think that there is no inherent existence, then the speaker wants to generate this understanding, how could that be wrong? However, if you take the non-inherent existence of things themselves as inherent existence, then that is wrong. According to you, when you say there is no wealth, even if you think there is no wealth, it must be denied, so it would be beautiful to rely on what we say. In the Commentary on the Verses, it is also said that attachment to emptiness is a thing, so it is neither denying emptiness, nor is there any fault in merely looking at emptiness. Therefore, the Compendium says: Even if you think that the aggregates are empty, the Bodhisattva does not cling to characteristics and does not believe in the unborn place. And the Precious Garland also says: The views of self and non-self are therefore rejected by the Great Sage. Furthermore, those who say that it is not permissible to view emptiness and selflessness from the scriptures and treatises must also be understood as previously stated. If not, Shariputra asked Avalokiteshvara how to learn if he wanted to practice profound Prajnaparamita, and the answer was: Also, truly observe those five aggregates, whose nature is empty. And the Compendium also says: Those who fully understand that all phenomena are without inherent existence, this is the practice of the supreme Prajnaparamita. And the Introduction also says: Therefore, I
