Therefore, it seems very difficult to completely determine the meanings of the conventional, and if one cannot properly determine these meanings without harm, one cannot properly obtain certainty in conduct. Therefore, it seems very likely to turn into a view of slander, so those with wisdom should be skilled in the way this school determines the conventional. Here, because I fear too many words, I will not elaborate further. Third, it is shown that refutation is not possible by examining whether the fourfold birth is or is not. If birth is negated by negating birth from self, other, both, and without cause, then the fourfold birth does not exist even in the conventional in this school, so there is no need to specifically explain the negation of birth. If it is not negated, then by negating the fourfold birth, the ultimate birth will also not be negated, and since the former is not desired, the answer to the latter should be explained. If one accepts ultimate birth, one must consider it able to withstand analysis by reasoning that examines it. At that time, since one must examine from which of the four possibilities, self, other, etc., birth arises, one who desires ultimate birth must necessarily accept the analysis of any of the four possibilities. Merely wanting birth that arises dependent on this cause and condition does not mean that one has accepted birth that is only that. Since that is not accepted, how can one analyze that alone with reasoning, asking from which of self, other, etc., it arises? Because it is not necessary to consider it able to withstand analysis by reasoning. Furthermore, the very fact of dependent arising negates the fourfold birth. As it says in the Entering [the Middle Way]: "Because things arise dependently, these thoughts cannot be examined. Therefore, this reasoning of dependent arising cuts off all nets of wrong views." Therefore, Chandrakirti considers dependent arising to be the method of negating the fourfold birth. And you think that if it does not arise from any of the four possibilities, then even birth itself does not exist. Therefore, it seems to be speaking contrary to what Chandrakirti thinks. Furthermore, that same text says: "Because without cause and from Ishvara, as well as from cause, etc., and from both self and other, things do not arise, therefore they arise dependently." If one thinks like you, it would become a contradictory statement. Therefore, dependent arising

Since dependent origination is free from the four extremes, do not ask which of the four extremes that is free from extremes. These people also erred because they did not distinguish between self-nature unarisen and unarisen. Well then, according to which reasoning was it said at that time? "It is unreasonable for arising from self and other, and with that reasoning it is also unreasonable in name." What's going on? This is to say that if one admits arising that is established as a substance or established by its own characteristics, then it is shown that in name it will also be refuted by those reasonings. But it is definitely not just refuting arising, because in the conclusion of that treatise it says: "If one must make anything that becomes the cause of all defilements and purification, become the nature of a substance." If you say that, then there will be nothing left for the person who says that but empty words. Why? Because it quoted "at that time" and so on. In the commentary to that treatise, it also says: "Therefore, arising by its own characteristics does not exist in either of the two truths." Even if unwilling, one must admit it. Because that's why it's said. Therefore, arising established by its own essence is the ultimate truth of arising, so if you want to admit it, then you can admit it in name, and you must refute it as if you were refuting the ultimate truth of arising. This is the special view of this teacher. Therefore, one should not admit arising established by its own essence in name either. As it says in the *Entering the Middle Way*: "Like the son of a barren woman, there is no arising by its own nature, nor is it in the world. Likewise, all these phenomena are by their own nature, and are not born in that world." Because that's what it says. If one thinks that there is no self-nature arising or no nature of arising, then it pervades non-arising, and then argues that dependent arising and self-nature unarisen are contradictory, this is called having no ears and no heart. Because they did not hear the word "self-nature" in "self-nature unarisen", but thought it was unarisen, So it is considered to be deaf, and it is considered to be heartless because it did not understand the meaning of the word "self-nature". Just like the *Sixty Stanzas of Reasoning* says: "What is born from dependence is unborn, this is what the best of knowers said." In the commentary it says: "Seeing dependent origination.
