can refute, like an elder in the world, you can only refute the decline in worldly dharma, not conventional truth. Thus it is said, only refuting the proponents of the declining school in conventional truth, not refuting conventional truth. Thus it is said, and applying rational observation there, because conventional truth practitioners are not good at establishing the two truths when they are destroyed. Therefore, refuting the form and so on of conventional truth with reason is definitely not the intention of this teacher. In short, not only the Madhyamaka school, but also the proponents of the Indian holy land who establish the aspect of the two truths of their own school, although others establish contradictions in his establishment of the two truths, he himself establishes the two truths, using the reason of the ultimate truth to refute the phenomena of conventional truth, there is not one, we say so. Second, after examining whether it is established by valid cognition, it cannot be refuted by refutation, that is, accepting form and so on, it is not that it is not desired to be established by valid cognition, but it is established by valid cognition. Then, how should the saying "all worlds are not valid cognition" be justified? This is to prevent the consciousness of the eyes and so on of the world from being valid cognition in that suchness, not to prevent it from being valid cognition in all realms. Thus, in the commentary on Entering the Middle Way, it is also said: "Thus, when thinking about that suchness, only the saints are valid cognition, and the non-saints are not. If you want to declare the harm of the world, and you also accept the world's view as valid cognition when distinguishing that suchness, then it should be so. If the world is valid cognition, then with the world's view, what do other saints need? What is the use of the saint's path? Fools are also not the valid cognition of reason." Thus it is said. In its outer commentary, it is said: If only the eyes and so on can determine that suchness, then in order to understand the path of the saints, diligence in precepts, listening to the Dharma, thinking, meditation, etc., if it becomes fruitless, then it is also not so. Therefore, all worlds are not valid cognition, therefore, the world is harmful at that time.

Thus it is said. It is also established in the commentary on the "Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning" that seeing them as existent is not seeing that very nature. Therefore, the Blessed One said, "Eyes, ears, and noses are not valid cognitions." etc. Therefore, it is very clear that it is a negation of being a valid cognition on that particular object, but not on other objects. If this is not done, it will become irrelevant. If someone says that if these consciousnesses of the eye, etc., are valid cognitions on the objects of conventional truth, such as form and sound, then there is no need to seek the noble path in order to see the suchness, it is like saying that if the eye consciousness knows form, then the ear becomes useless for hearing sound. If it is said that seeking the noble path for seeing form, sound, etc., becomes meaningless, then this is exactly what we want, so what undesirable thing can be proven by this? Then, in the commentary on the "Four Hundred Stanzas" it says: "If someone assumes that this sense consciousness is direct perception and understands it as another valid cognition, that is also very irrelevant. If non-deceptive consciousness is seen as a valid cognition in the world, then the Blessed One has also said that consciousness is conditioned, therefore it is false, deceptive, and like an illusion. Whatever is false, deceptive, and like an illusion is not non-deceptive, because it appears in a different way on an object that exists in a different way. In that case, it should not be considered a valid cognition, because then all consciousnesses would become valid cognitions." If someone asks how to understand the general negation that eye, etc., consciousnesses are valid cognitions, this is very different from "Eyes, ears, and noses are not valid cognitions," etc., and is a very likely place for doubt, so it needs to be explained in detail. Therefore, the negation that eye consciousness, etc., are direct perception and valid cognition is to negate the assertion of the Lokayata. First, their assertion should be stated. In the commentary on the "Four Hundred Stanzas" it says: "Because the Lokayata is not proficient in worldly matters, they must be trained from the very beginning like young children, so in order to explain this, one should refute and examine what your direct perception is."
