The discussion on dependent origination. Whatever arises dependently, you consider that to be emptiness. Things have no autonomy, this is your unparalleled lion's roar. Therefore, because of being dependent origination, it is said to be empty of inherent existence. The meaning of dependent origination appearing as the meaning of emptiness without inherent existence is the unique tenet of the Holy Nagarjuna. Therefore, the emptiness of no self-nature is established by the Madhyamaka school, and the establishment of dependent origination, cause and effect, if it is difficult to establish in one's own school, and it is pushed to other schools, etc., then that is not the meaning of dependent origination. As the "Root Verses on the Middle Way" says, "Because there is the meaning of emptiness, everything is accomplished." For whatever school that considers emptiness to be reasonable, then in that school, all dependent originations of samsara and nirvana are reasonable. So, how can the emptiness school make all of samsara and nirvana reasonable? Because it is proclaimed that all things are empty of inherent existence, it is explained by the reason of arising in dependence on causes and conditions, which will be explained. In this way, dependent origination is reasonable. If dependent origination is reasonable, then suffering is also reasonable. Because suffering must be established on arising in dependence on causes and conditions, it cannot be said to be suffering if it does not arise in dependence. If there is the truth of suffering, then the truth of the origin of suffering, from where suffering arises, and the truth of cessation, the cessation of suffering, and the truth of the path, the path to the cessation of suffering, are also reasonable, therefore the four noble truths exist. If the four noble truths exist, then knowing, abandoning, and realizing them, and cultivating the path are also reasonable. If these exist, then the Three Jewels and everything else are reasonable. As the "Clear Words" says, "For whom it is reasonable that all things are empty of inherent existence, then for him, everything as said before is reasonable. How is it reasonable? Because we say that dependent origination is emptiness, therefore for whom emptiness is reasonable, then for him, dependent origination is reasonable. For whom dependent origination is reasonable, then for him, the four noble truths are reasonable. How is it? Because dependent origination itself is suffering, not non-dependent origination. That is because of being empty due to the absence of inherent existence.

So it is. If suffering exists, then the origin of suffering, the cessation of suffering, and the path leading to the cessation of suffering will be established. Therefore, fully understanding suffering, abandoning its origin, realizing its cessation, and cultivating the path are also established. If there is complete understanding of the truths such as suffering, then the fruits will be established. If the fruits exist, then those who abide in the fruits will be established. If those who abide in the fruits exist, then the entrants will be established. If those who abide in the fruits and the entrants exist, then the Sangha will be established. If the noble truths exist, then the sacred Dharma will also be established. If the sacred Dharma and the Sangha exist, then the Buddha will also be established. Therefore, the Three Jewels will also be established. All phenomena, both mundane and supramundane, and all distinct cognitions will be established, as well as Dharma and non-Dharma, their results, and all mundane conventions. Therefore, if emptiness is established for someone, then everything is established for that person. If emptiness is not established for someone, then because there is no dependent origination, nothing is established. As it is said, establishment and non-establishment should be understood based on their existence and non-existence. In the answer to the previously cited debate, the teacher also clearly explained that action is reasonable in the absence of inherent existence. In the 'Refutation of Objections' it says: 'Whatever arises dependently, that is called emptiness, and whatever arises dependently, is said to be without inherent existence.' And in its auto-commentary it also says: 'You have not understood the meaning of the emptiness of phenomena, because your words are without inherent existence. Therefore, it is unreasonable to seek fault by saying that preventing the inherent existence of phenomena is not appropriate.' Here, whatever phenomena arise dependently, that is emptiness. Why? Because it is without inherent existence. Those phenomena that arise dependently are not with inherent existence, because they are without inherent existence. Why? Because they are dependent on causes and conditions.
