Sa. It would be too much to think that you don't have it. If self-nature is emptiness, then arising and ceasing and the four truths are not reasonable. In the Refutation of Arguments, it says: If the self-nature of all things does not exist in all things, then your words also have no self-nature and cannot refute self-nature. If words have no self-nature, they cannot prevent self-nature, nor can they prove the absence of self-nature. If self-nature does not exist, then the producer and the produced, and the actions of preventing and proving are not reasonable, therefore a debate is held. This is because he understands that all actions are prevented by the reasoning of negating self-nature. Therefore, when proponents of inherent existence and Madhyamikas debate non-common tenets, they only debate whether emptiness of self-nature can establish all phenomena of samsara and nirvana. Therefore, the characteristic of the Madhyamikas is that even if there is not the slightest self-nature established by its own essence, it is sufficient to acknowledge all phenomena of samsara and nirvana such as the producer and the produced, and prevention and proof. As it says in the twenty-fourth chapter of the Root Wisdom: The reason for becoming a fault is that it is not reasonable for emptiness. You abandon emptiness, which is not reasonable for me. For whom emptiness is reasonable, for him everything is reasonable. For whom emptiness is not reasonable, for him everything is not reasonable. If all these are empty, etc., such faults do not occur for those who say there is no self-nature, and moreover, for the side of emptiness of self-nature, arising and ceasing etc. are reasonable, and for the side of non-emptiness of self-nature, they are not reasonable. Similarly, in the Clear Words, it says: For our side, not only will we not fall into any of the faults that have been spoken of, but also in order to show that all establishments such as truth are very reasonable, it was said, "For whom emptiness is reasonable," etc., and the treatise was explained. In the Root Verses of the Middle Way, the twenty-sixth chapter shows the order of arising of the twelve links of dependent origination and the order of cessation of the reverse order, and the twenty-fifth chapter mainly negates self-nature. The twenty-fourth chapter examines the noble truths, and for those who are not empty of self-nature, all phenomena of samsara and nirvana such as arising and ceasing are not reasonable.

Since it has been extensively established that all of these are feasible in the manner of being empty of inherent existence, this treatise must be able to encompass all other treatises. Therefore, those who now wish to speak of the meaning of the Middle Way, if they assert that on the basis of no inherent existence, cause and effect, such as the produced and the producer, are impossible, that is the way of speaking of entities. Therefore, the view of the noble Nagarjuna is that one must rely on this and that cause and condition, this and that fruit arising and ceasing, the very system of cause and effect, to seek emptiness of inherent existence and the Middle Way. As it says in the Twenty-fourth Chapter: Whatever is dependently arisen, that is said to be emptiness, that is dependently designated, that itself is the Middle Way. Because there is no phenomenon that is not dependent, therefore there is no phenomenon that is not empty. Therefore, to this statement that dependent arising is pervasive with emptiness of inherent existence, do not reverse it and say that arising from causes and conditions is pervasive with being established by inherent existence. Similarly, in the Refutation of Objections, it also says: For whom emptiness is possible, for them all things are possible. For whom emptiness is not possible, for them nothing is possible. To the supreme speaker, the unequaled one, who holds emptiness, dependent arising, and the Middle Way to be of one meaning, I prostrate. And in the Seventy Stanzas on Emptiness, it also says: Since all entities are empty of inherent existence, therefore, for the dependent arising of things, the Thus-Gone One has shown it closely with no equal. And in the Sixty Stanzas of Reasoning, it also says: Those who cling to the self or the world as not dependent, alas, those are robbed by views such as permanence and impermanence. Those who wish things to be established as dependent on this, those also have faults such as permanence, how will those not change? Those who wish things to be dependent, like the moon in water, neither truly nor falsely, those are not robbed by views. And in the Praise of the Transcendent, it also says: Suffering is done by oneself, or done by another, or done by both, the causeless thinkers think so, but you say dependent arising.
