Because without the view of selflessness, one cannot even slightly transcend samsara. Similarly, as stated in the previously cited Bodhisattva Pitaka, without understanding the suchness explained in the scriptures, merely being content with samadhi and taking it as the path to meditate on profound meaning, one develops pride and thus cannot be liberated from samsara. Considering this, I taught that hearing from others will liberate one from old age and death. This is the Teacher himself clearly explaining his own intention. Hearing from others means hearing others explain selflessness. Therefore, to prevent the idea that one does not need to listen to the meaning of selflessness from a virtuous friend externally, but thinks it arises from within, it is said, "Hearing from others," and so on. There is no doubt about this. In general, all the scriptures of the Buddhas, some directly teach suchness, and those that do not directly teach it also tend and lead to suchness through indirect means. Until the appearance of knowing suchness arises, the darkness of ignorance will not recede. If it arises, it will recede. Therefore, mere calm abiding with one-pointedness of mind will not purify wisdom, nor will the darkness of ignorance recede. Therefore, one should seek the wisdom that ascertains the meaning of suchness, the selflessness. Without doubt, one must seek wisdom. As the Middle Stages of Meditation says: "After achieving calm abiding, one should cultivate insight, and one should think thus: All the teachings of the Bhagavan are well spoken, either directly or indirectly, they reveal suchness and lead to suchness. If one knows suchness, just as the appearance arises and dispels darkness, one will be free from all nets of views. Mere calm abiding will not purify wisdom, nor will it dispel the darkness of obscurations. If one cultivates suchness well with wisdom, wisdom will become completely pure, one will realize suchness, and only wisdom will completely abandon obscurations. Therefore, I should abide in calm abiding and completely seek suchness with wisdom. One should not be content with mere calm abiding. What is suchness like? In ultimate truth, all phenomena are emptiness of the two selves, the self of person and the self of phenomena."

Therefore, this very emptiness is realized by the Prajnaparamita among the perfections, but not by Samadhi and others. Therefore, one should not mistake mere Samadhi for Prajnaparamita, but should generate wisdom. As the Sandhinirmocana Sutra says: "Bhagavan, with which Prajnaparamita does a Bodhisattva realize that the nature of all dharmas does not exist?" Avalokiteshvara! It is realized by the Prajnaparamita. " Thus and so on. Considering this, as quoted earlier, in the Mahayana Shraddha Samgraha Sutra it is also said: "If there is no wisdom, I will not say that the Bodhisattvas' faith in the Mahayana will necessarily arise, no matter how they practice the Mahayana." Thus it is said. Thus, secondly, there are four ways to train in Vipassana: Relying on the accumulation of Vipassana, the detailed classification of Vipassana, the way to cultivate Vipassana, and the standard of achieving Vipassana through cultivation. First, relying on the accumulation of Vipassana: Relying on a wise person who knows the essence of the scriptures without reversing them, listening to the immaculate treatises, and generating a view that realizes Suchness with the wisdom of hearing and thinking is indispensable for the accumulation of causes of Vipassana. If there is no view that is decisive on the meaning of reality, then it is impossible for the realization of Vipassana that realizes reality to arise. Such a view must also be sought by relying on the definitive meaning rather than the provisional meaning, so one must know the difference between the definitive and provisional meanings and understand the meaning of the definitive scriptures. If one does not rely on the treatises explained by a great chariot-opener who has become a standard, it is like a blind person without a guide, and one will go in a dangerous direction, so one should rely on the non-reversed commentary. What kind of commentary should one rely on? It is the noble Nagarjuna, who is widely known in the three realms, who was prophesied very clearly in many sutras and tantras to explain the profound meaning of the essence taught by the Buddha Bhagavan himself, which is free from all extremes of existence and non-existence. Therefore, one should rely on his treatises to seek a view that realizes emptiness. This has three parts: identifying the provisional and definitive scriptures, Nagarjuna's intention
